I was starting to think we'd weather it and/or he'd be removed from office before he could do permanent harm, but now that he's starting to yell at North Korea...

Well, did anyone expect ass kissing?
I've known a German or two over the years, and while they haven't all had the same traits, they generally seem to be straight forward and not very tolerant of asshattery. I would expect no less response to Der Drumpf.

Don't be mad at them, WE'RE the ones who took a national IQ test and failed so bad we ended up metaphorically wadding it up and jamming it up our ass.

Honestly, this was a predictable outcome. The transgenders weren't enough of a distraction and the only tool left in his arsenal was to pick a fight to unify the nation. Some cruise missiles, even if they miss or fail to explode, are enough of an excuse to put whatever regressive bullshiat he wants in place and I'm sure the public will get right the fark on board with anything he wants to do. Even if a million people show up and protest against him having the nuclear football, at this point, it's too farking late. We as a nation no longer have any right whatsoever to claim moral authority over who should or shouldn't have access to nukes. We gave them to a coke-addict with borderline personality disorder and an inferiority complex.  Willingly.

The nation is past any hope of actually unifying. We're pretty much split down the middle politically,  and don't get me started on religious interference, class warfare, or bigotry.

We're really not.  Outside of a few crazies, we all believe pretty much the same things.

Look at the numbers for the Presidential elections for the last couple of decades. It's pretty close to split down the middle (popular vote) on folks voting either party.

If you mean we all want the same basic things, that's true, but it sure doesn't equal a united front for what we we want to change in government.
