You know Spike, it's all the national non-sports related media attention that has made Kaep a liability in most team's eyes

So hey, thanks for putting the final nail into his career's coffin

That's not exactly what I said -- but hey thanks for completely disregarding the fact that his "taking a knee" and continued insistence on doing that in the face of the national controversy it stirred comes at a price

And if you think having a gaggle of loud people of color chanting at your door makes Kaep any more attractive to Team Owners, you are deluded

Besides, Kaep is a mediocre QB at best, more hype than talent and the hype comes at a steep price. Because his views which might have been ok and widely supported in SF, stand to cause too many potential conflicts with Team Mates and Fans alike in say Texas... or most America where racism and fascism are the only way of life people know

The NFL doesn't want him because they are shiatbags for whom "maybe cops shouldn't kill so many people" is an outrageous statement

Dude, you need to learn how to use the word "most" correctly.

Your original statement:
...stand to cause too many potential conflicts with Team Mates and Fans alike in say Texas... or most America where racism and fascism are the only way of life people know

"most America" (sic) would logically be interpreted in that context as "most people in America".  A secondary interpretation, since you mentioned Texas, would be "most of the geography of America".

Yeah that's complete bullshiat. If he turned down a contract, the team that offered it would have their owner and GM on the NFL Network within *minutes* to shout from the rooftops "see, he's not blackballed, he turned us down, he's too good for what we offered"

So, you're saying that you'd rather have Jay Cutler on your team than Colin Kaepernik? Jay Cutler who just said "I'm a QB, so I don't have to be in good cardiovascular shape"?

Also, don't confuse the lack of overall talent on the Niners these past few years as the dumpster fire grows, with Kaepernik's ability. He's far from mediocre and is a decent scrambling QB with good range. He's not the Second Coming of Montana or anything like that, but he's certainly much better than Cutler or whomever the Jets have signed.

/yes, I am a Niners fan and will admit that our team is a farking dumpster fire.

Long story short - NFL decision makers didn't like his game before he ever took a knee.  Bad at your job + media circus = no job every time.

In Miami's case?  Sadly, yes.  And Kaep would have been a better fit for their style of offense.  But the community will never forgive him for wearing that Fidel shirt so the distraction would outweigh any benefit.  If Matty Ice had blown his knee and the Falcons signed Cutler over Kaep I'd be right there with you.  Down here?  Nah.

It's been widely reported that he was looking for $9-$10 mil with any team that signed him, after leaving $14 mil on the table at SF.  That's not an insignificant amount of money for somebody who had regressed at the position AND brings unwanted exterior noise with him.

Every "wide report" links back to one article, source to "two people I talked to."

This is the NFL; there are no guaranteed contracts. He could have opted in, but he would've received the same $0 when he was cut.

So he opted out to give other teams the opportunity to acquire him prior to the draft, without having to give the 49ers anything.

So he will be in the arena league next season then.

Well, you need to look at the bright side of it. Miami signing Kaep would have lead to a plague of heart attacks and aneurysms among the old Cubans that actually care about that. So, an increase in available housing in Little Havana and the virtual elimination of a political talking point that keeps actual diplomacy with Cuba from working.

Downside: lots of dead cigar makers with decades of experience and exceptional good taste for tobacco, and lots of cubano stands closing down.
