coulda got kaep and a couple O-linemen for that too. oh well. i will not be drafting anyone other than Ajayi off that team this year. still wouldn't have with kaep unless those two O-line guys were beasts, which they wouldnt be if they were signing this late anyway.

Nah, Cutler's always good for winning a few irrelevant games in order to not get a good pick, too.

I didn't mean to imply that the Dolphins would take over the top pick, I just thought it would be the most Jets-y thing the Jets could manage.

Good for him, he executed brilliant strategy, taking himself out of free agency with his broadcasting career and then dangling an opportunity to the highest bidder still in need after training camp.  That's how you do it in your final years folks, none of this 'mentoring' crap, he just got another payday.

Kaep has played well under Gase's system and they also seem to think highly of eachother. So let's get the controversial guy who has been underperforming the last couple of years and has also shown no ability to run the kind of offence that Miami has?

Yeah you'd make a great GM.

Phins fan here.  I don't know what to make of this.  Cutler did have a 92 passer rating in 2015 under Gase in Chicago.  But he's still Jay Cutler.  Long term, a 34-year-old QB is not the future. And Miami hasn't seen a franchise QB since Marino retired in 1999//
I'm more concerned about the decision making process that went into signing him. In just the short time that Gase has been here, I've felt as though owner Stephen Ross was turning the corner on a dark aimless period in Phins history and were finally trying to build towards a sustainable winning culture.

This smacks of once again being more concerned with the here and now rather than building for a future that could see the Phins regularly challenging a Bradyless Patriots team for the division year in and year out.

It's a one-year deal to try and save their season.  Tannehill can get surgery on his knee, and maybe Miami can win 10 games and make the playoffs with Cutler under center.  Win a wildcard game and lose to the Patriots or Pittsburgh in the playoffs on the road.  Not a bad year.

Then hope Tannehill comes back strong to be The Guy in 2018.

Cutler is a much better fit for the Dolphins than Kaepernick . He knows the coach and the system. Gase will get the best out of him.

20 cigarettes per pack

57,971 cartons = 11,594,200cigarettes

Between marino and tannehill the dolphins starting qb list was as bad as clevelands.  Tannehill while noy spectacular provided stability.  Last year looked like a turning point until tannehill went down.  Cutler should be a decent fill in for 1 year.  He isnt the future.

I mean, that would exceed anything Cutler's done in his whole career. So it's pretty silly to think it's going to happen.

Yeesh, I told Bears fans they weren't going to be happy with acquiring Cutler, they eventually figured it out. Now Dolphins fans are going to think it's gonna happen for them? Lol. Dude has been a subpar QB at literally every stop since HS.

Cutler is a much better quarterback than Kaepernick. Not even close.

But, yes, politics mean Kaepernick wouldn't ever be a Dolphin. You don't publicly praise Fidel Castro and expect to do anything professional in Miami ever.

The last year that Kaep and Cutler played a full year, the 2015 season, Cutler had the 12th highest QB rating and Kaep had the 29th. Cutler was also with Gase that year as well as a perk. Kaepernick has never had seasonal QB rating higher than Cutler according to ESPN.

Kluwe, who ranked 22nd in the league the year before he was released and was coming off knee surgery.  Oh yeah, he was totally cut because of his politics and not because he was an aging punter who was in a decline and coming off knee surgery.

Kaepernick both has a higher single-season and a higher career passer rating than Jay Cutler.

Oh, and Kaepernick didnt play the full year in 2015.

So if ESPN used all those stats, they're 0/3.
