The article makes clear if a person wants to support progressive ideas and candidates only donate to the person and not the DNC.

they don't want to risk another black especially a black woman as a candidate. it's like handicapping yourself. sorry to say it and it's not fair but it is what it is.

I want to see this jackass write this same article about Liz Warren, Tammy Duckworth, and Adam Schiff.

"Don't trust these three black politicians!", writes the white guy.

Jesus F*cking Christ.

Author sounds concerned.

(Strange that nobody's asking about potential problems that any white potential candidate may encounter. Excluding Hillary, but then again we all know about her problems every day out of the right wing.)

The Democrat party needs to offer a reason to vote FOR them rather than AGAINST the other guys.
It is simply not enough anymore to say "we're not going to have actual neo-Nazis in the West Wing."

And that's the attitude that got us President Donald Trump. 'They're not batshiat insane fascists' is PLENTY reason to vote for the Democrats.

Guess what? Obama was an anomaly. Politicians aren't generally that 'exciting', and while people wait for that lightning to strike again, the GOP cancer is killing America.

Learn from the Teabaggers; for all their many glaring faults, they did manage to push the GOP farther and farther right with every election, because they voted in primaries and voted reliably in the actual elections. That attitude can be used for positive change in the Democratic party, but if progressives just take our ball and go home, the GOP will continue to tear America apart and sell the scraps.

fusillade762: No mention of Booker voting against importing drugs from Canada.

The safety excuse is mostly a chimera, as most of the drugs that would be imported from Canada were originally manufactured in the United States; they're just cheaper there, because the Canadian government uses a review board and price negotiation to make drugs more affordable.

That being said, let's not let perfect be the enemy of good.

These guys value purity over electoral success.  Let's hope their principles keep them warm when the Trumpenjugend show up to send them to the camps.

As a Canadian, fark off. If you want to have proper pharmacare, build your own damned system. We have cheaper drugs because our government negotiates a price on behalf of its citizens, and piggybacking on that will drive prices up in Canada. You need a proper framework for healthcare, not a discount drug emporium.

Mean while, we still got dipshiats arguing that if they punish the DNC hard enough by withholding their support and letting the Republicans win, eventually the DNC will somehow "choose" nothing but PERFECT candidates.

It's like trickle down economics.  We just got to be patient.  Let's let Nazis take over the White House for another few election cycles and everything will work out!

Come on. Read the news. Here's how the D is doing:

"In 2015, Justice switched from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party and announced his candidacy for Governor in the 2016 election. He defeated the Republican nominee, Bill Cole. On August 3, 2017, less than seven months after taking office, Justice publicly announced his plans to switch parties the next day and become a Republican again."

Here's the county electoral map for that election:

Trump is showing that if you want to change the system, you have to work from within the system. Outsiders get rejected by the system. Demanding someone to the left of Sanders as the Democratic candidate is doubly stupid as they can't get elected and even if they did, they would be completely ineffectual.

This was a eff you to a progressive bill that Bernie put forth. Still not as big of an eff you as the DNC pulled on Bernie supporters with their scant debates, the first one coming days after the deadline to register in closed primary state New York, the voting inconsistencies pointing to election fraud in multiple states, and even still extending the middle finger to the Bernie supporters at every chance they could have extended the olive branch.

I was a lifelong Dem voter in my 40's, but this primary turned me into an independent. The DNC stole my time and money by running a rigged primary. They can go fark themselves. I'm not alone either. They defrauded nearly half the people who were able to vote in their primary and those people won't just blindly vote Dem anymore, they want real progressives running. Not bullshiat neoliberal republican lite candidates.

How about, at worst, keeping the ACA, which can be used as a stepping stone towards single payer, and, y'know, won't result in tens of thousands of deaths like the apparent 'let the GOP kill the ACA, and hope single payer rises from the ashes' plan so-called "progressives" seem to prefer?

The status quo is always preferable to rapid regression. That, in itself, is worth a vote for the Democrats.

But now? Before the next Democratic government can make any real progress (assuming America even survives to that point), they'll have to clean up all the shiat left behind by the GOP. That will take some time (especially if the GOP has enough power to obstruct), the GOP will claim that the Democrats are taking too long and thus failures, and the GOP will be reelected to break shiat all over again.

I've seen this a lot, you're the second to mention her in this thread. From what I've read she didn't even really want her husband to run, but she reluctantly went along with it because it's what he wanted to do.

So why the hell would she turn around and run?

The night Hillary "won" Iowa (even though their own rules stated the coin toss winner lost the caucus, and they awarded her 6 caucuses this way by breaking their own rules) she said either Single payer or universal healthcare (I forget which specifically), would "never ever happen." She lost me right then and there. Of course it won't happen with that attitude! It also won't happen if you are paid off by people making money off the current insurance situation.

It's also a terrible idea to make someone with no politics qualifications as President.  I don't get this fascination to have a President with minimal to no political experience.

I'm sure a lot of people have me flagged as a misogynist, racist Bernie Bro (because I supported Sanders) but I'm OK with Harris for the most part. I wish she'd have prosecuted Mnchin, but nobody else was doing that either for whatever reason, so I'm willing to overlook that part as long as the party as a whole will start advocating tossing bankers that commit fraud in jail (which they certainly do not at this point).

But yeah, I'm gonna have to pass on Booker and the Bain Capital guy.
