Trump is going to have a hard time explaining why he keeps firing people. McMaster is serious about the job and probably one of the very few competent people in that administration.  Just firing him and hiring a lackey is going to send the wrong message.  Not that I'd credit Trump to know or care.

Trump Says U.S.'Losing' Afghan War in Tense Meeting With Generals

Over nearly two hours in the situation room, according to the officials, Trump complained about NATO allies, inquired about the United States getting a piece of Afghan's mineral wealth and repeatedly said the top U.S. general there should be fired. He also startled the room with a story that seemed to compare their advice to that of a paid consultant who cost a tony New York restaurateur profits by offering bad advice.

Yeah, that's just the thing to tell people who have been covering the collective asses of U.S. politicians for the last 15 years.

[Secretary of Defense James] Mattis and Kelly also agreed in the earliest weeks of Trump's presidency that one of them should remain in the United States at all times to keep tabs on the orders rapidly emerging from the White House, according to a person familiar with the discussions. The official insisted on anonymity in order to discuss the administration's internal dynamics.

TFA may be just a hit piece put out by Steve Bannon and his fans.

"The national security adviser, H.R. McMaster, has removed three NSC aides loyal to Trump aide Steve Bannon in the last three weeks. Bannon allies inside and outside the administration have fired back, starting rumors that McMaster is on his way out the door and documenting the Army general's deviations from President Trump. "

" Meanwhile, blogger Mike Cernovich has been tweeting links to a website called McMasterLeaks, which contains a single blog post with multiple examples of how McMaster is undermining Trump. "

Are we using "ship" in the transport sense here, or "ship" in the "write bad fan-fiction about a torrid romance between two characters" sense? Does anyone want to bite the bullet and give us some hot H.R. McMaster/John W. Nicholson Jr. slash fiction?

(Please don't.)

Some good advice: always keep a hand on the back of a chair as you walk around behind them. When the music stops, pull the chair you are touching back towards you and immediately sit down.

McMaster fired several of the Flynn hires/probable Russian plants/insane Trumpanzees, so of course the Russians/Trump's base want him gone.  If McMaster doesn't get shipped off to the other side of the world for it, then Kelly really is in charge.

At some point here, between farking with McMaster, instituting the transgender ban WITHOUT any consultation with the top brass, the continued undermining of the State Dept, I would not be the least bit surprised to see McMaster, Kelly, Mattis and/or Tillerson resign en masse or individually.

If even two of these four resign, Trump is going to have a massive problem on his hands, as he is so understaffed as it is, this is going to hurt his ability to get anything done and getting good candidates to fill those open positions.

At some point, even the hard core Trumpers are going to have to admit that the problem is not those on staff in the Trump administration so much as the problem is Trump.   Mattis' resignation would likely hurt him the most as you may see any number of under-secretaries and military chiefs resign or retire in support of Mattis.

Imagine if Reince Priebus was actually doing a tremendous amount keeping Trump in check. Imagine the past 7 months was with this herculean effort to protect Trump from himself.  Now imagine that this is gone now because doesn't understand how to do that and won't make the effort.  Hypothetical only.

That's a great site, thank you. It keeps track of what 600 bots are doing each day.

"We examined unique stories that appeared each day in the lists of Top and Trending URLs from July 21 to July 31, 2017. Articles were categorized according to issues they addressed, including primary, secondary, and tertiary themes, as many stories speak to multiple issues. The three most common primary issues out of the 91 stories analyzed involved US partisan politics, the conflict in Syria, and the investigation of Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller. Digging deeper, the 54 stories related to partisan politics include 30 hostile to the Democratic Party, 14 supportive of President Trump, 2 hostile to the Republic Party establishment, and 2 targeting the U.S. Intelligence Community. Of 18 stories related to Syria, 14 attacked US actions, while 4 lauded the actions of Russia and their allies. The 9 articles targeting Robert Mueller and his investigation were uniformly hostile. The problem is that Trump wanted to bomb the hell out of everything, so they did. Trump's civilian casualty in Afghanistan will exceed the civilian casualty count of Obama's entire eight years by the end of this month. And Trump has fewer high value targets under his belt. It's not that Trump gives a damn about dead civilians, but he desperately cares that people know Obama was a better, more-effective Commander in Chief. It makes Trump look even worse than Mexico insisting it will not pay for his wall.
