"going to the mattresses," the famous phrase from Mario Puzo's The Godfather on mob caporegimes setting up secret apartments with mattresses for soldiers to sleep on

I thought the phrase was "going to the mat", like as in wrestling.

I wanted Sessions next, but Bannon would make a good plot twist for the Season Premier.

Something tells me that even if Bannon were fired, he would just use Breitbart to get Two Scoop's attention. So, while Bannon wouldn't have daily access to him in the White House, I still think that he would be able to get hold of the president for his agenda.

If Bannon were fired, Breibart would burn Trump like a witch. That's pretty much the only reason Bannon still has a job.  He's probably one of the very few people Trump is terrified to get rid of.

Most likely. But I can't help but think that going nuclear on Trump, at least right away, would backfire. I'd think that biding his time and trying to get some bit of influence on the agenda (assuming that anything is implemented) would be the first step, and then trashing Trump when things finally turn to shiat.

Sessions out would be much better. He has the support of conservatives in Congress and has a real chance of getting more awful things done. Bannon isn't doing much beside sowing chaos and disorder in the executive branch and helping his boss make himself look bad.

There you go using logic and reason and shiat.  These are conservatives we're talking about.  They didn't get where they are by being rational members of society.  They got where they are because they are reactionary mob/riot fodder.

Sessions is also cock-blocking Donnie getting rid of Mueller.

So as bad as Sessions is, right now we need him to stay.

His readers only like Trump because Breitbart told them to.

"Going to the mattresses" is a stupid saying, even if it came from The Godfather.

I think the Breitbart Brigade has already lobbed threats against a Bannon ouster. It's obvious to almost everyone that he has no business in the White House. This is getting interesting.

Trump will still have the National Enquirer, the paper of record for his most loyal supporters.
A Trump/Breitbart falling out will involve amazingly hilarious Bannon tabloid exposes some of which will even be true

Breibart is also financed by a major Trump financial backer, the Mercer family.  Canning Bannon could cut Trump off at the knees.

Apparently, new White House chief of staff John Kelly is unable to stop the war, or is siding with McMaster against Bannon.

Well, no shiat.  I'd have never expected that.

Actually, it is from Leviticus.  "Thou shalt leave this place and go to the place of bedding.  Thou shalt smite the evil and leave the cannoli..."

I did not expect to read (in the original Weekly Standard article), "For some time, Steve Bannon has been considering leaving the White House. One of Bannon's closest buddies in the West Wing was Reince Priebus, now gone."  I thought they were bitter rivals.

2017-08-03 07:30:09 AM
Interesting that McMaster and Kelly are going after Bannon and his guys for wanting to start a war with North Korea.  I genuinely think Putin wants us to start a war, since it will stretch the US military and economy to it's breaking point, and give him a free hand in Eastern Europe.

The plus side is that if Bannon is ousted, the Breitbart right loses their key conduit in the White House and will be unable to directly dictate our geopolitical strategy.

The Trump administration will never become a positive force for America.

But if McMaster and Kelly win, and Bannon and his alt-right, fake news cronies are purged, it would sure be a lot less obviously evil.

Good luck guys.

The Iraq Turkey Shoot? Where someone had the tactical know-how to order an attack on a retreating, inferior force that was following a straight line road? Brilliant out of the box thinking needed there.

Soros has control over everything!!!  The only thing stopping him from running the entire world is Trump and his valiant supporters, who will be happy to "bathe the tree of Liberty in blood" to stop him.
