I'm guessing one of his aids lied to him about which bill he was signing.

2017-08-02 11:01:58 AM
Wait.  I was assured by TOP political experts that there was NO WAY that Trump would sign this.

<----  predicted that President Cuck would sign anything that is placed in front of him because he's a giant pussy, moron, and illiterate dipshiat

I suspect that Putin, aware that any veto would be overridden by Congress, made some deal with Trump to avert the release of any kompromat.

Well, I would suspect that if any evidence existed that Trump and Putin had some recent meeting without any American interpreters present.

2017-08-02 11:03:24 AM
What, no signing ceremony?

2017-08-02 11:03:32 AM
By the way, people have theorized that "755" was some sort of code to Trump.

I don't think it's a Linux command (as I have seen suggested.)  Who the heck in this administration would know that?

So what does Fark think it means?

Wasn't expecting that.

Did they double-check his signature for typos? And video it?

Serious question on the sanctions: if they are going to cost the Russian oligarchy so much money, why would Putin insist on continuing with his escapades in Ukraine and elsewhere? Or did he really believe he could trust Donald Trump to have the sanctions removed regardless of what he does?

Not to be a downer, but there wasn't really any chance of him not signing it.  It basically passed unanimously.  He knows if he veto'd it would get overridden.  There would be no point.

Even Putin would have told him to just sign it and not look more guilty at that point.

Hardly.  Russian, unlike Americans, understand when they have lost a battle.  They'll accept those losses and proceed along different channels.  The next month or so will see Russia making personal examples out of a few Republican legislators.

But not Trump.  He's still the most successful Espionage operation on the history of the world, even if he is mostly failure.  They won't destroy their asset as she is destroying the United States from the inside.

By midterms we will have lost the diplomatic gravitas to enforce those sanctions.  That bill is nothing but a paper tiger provided America's decline continues unabated.

Putin has sunk a TON of money into the Crimea, he's not leaving unless he's dragged out. I think his dealings with Trump were just a gamble--it's partially paid off already, though.

Congress already told him that if he vetoed it then they would override it. THAT would make him look weak.

I'd guess more drips out.

Half of Russia's game is to get you to do something illegal/immoral/shady/that looks bad on their behalf, and then threaten to expose the very fact that you cooperated with them.

Leaking just a bit, continually, keeps the US leadership paralyzed and unable to focus on world politics due to the firestorms at home.

It isnt a linux command it is commonly the default set of permissions a new file or directory will get. It means the owner can read, write, and execute, members of the same group can read and write, and others can read and write. Also known as:

rwxrw-rw-

Yeah, most of us know that.

Tillerson's main job in respect to Russia is now to make sure those sanctions are enforced.  To think of that fills me with a brand new emotion, one that is equal parts sarcastic laughter and nausea.

Here's a better question:

We're sanctioning Russia - fine.
We're sanctioning North Korea - fine.
Why are we sanctioning Iran???

Seriously, can someone explain to me what Iran did lately that was so wrong?  Because this bill is actually kind of pissing off a lot of our allies by poking Iran with a stick needlessly while everyone is pointing at Russia.

Glitchwerks: I don't think it's a Linux command (as I have seen suggested.)  Who the heck in this administration would know that?

Not a linux command, but linux/unix permission bits.  755 translates to rwxr-xr-x. This particular combination means that the owner can read/write & execute, while the group and others can only read and execute. Used with the chmod command.

I leave as an exercise to the reader to learn more.

Enforcement is going to be the problem. It's one thing to have sanctions on paper, but they are meaningless if not enforced.

The new bill doesn't add much in the way of sanctions, it mainly makes it harder for The Donald to just toss them unilaterally.  The other escapades in Ukraine aren't really on the radar beyond "things that were done."  Sure he's still funneling money and troops into war-torn territories, but Russia is still pretending they aren't actually doing anything.
