Sweet!

2017-07-25 07:24:37 PM
Trump pretty much has to veto this or he's little use to Putin, who will start leaking information on him.

Admitting that Russia interfered in the election is not the same as admitting that the Trump campaign was in on it.  Just sayin'.

Who are the -2 / -3 ?

I wonder if he will just sit on it and "mull it over" in the hopes that Congress will go on recess?

Just goes to show you that spite is the only motivator for a politician.

2017-07-25 07:46:25 PM
President Putin Trump will veto this, guaranteed.

Question is, does Congress have the balls to override his veto?

2017-07-25 07:47:07 PM
Good, now go after the donald.

2017-07-25 07:48:36 PM
Senate was 98-2 (I'm subbie, owning my mistake). Senate was Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders dissenting.

I want to see the Twitter meltdown if his veto gets overridden

Trump: Hold my beer.

So they kick America in the balls with the healthcare vote and kick Trump in the balls with the Russia vote.  Do the Republicans just not give a fark today?

2017-07-25 07:49:41 PM
Look for Russia to step up it's pressure on Trump now. They have nothing to lose. Maybe even a whiff of pee, ew. .

Today's House vote: No from Amash, Duncan of Tennessee, and Massie. "Absent" from a few people, but even farking Rohrabacher voted for it.
Last month's similar Senate vote: Lee and RANDPAUL vote no, Van Hollen does not vote.

He's got 10 days after they deliver it to him, right?  After that it becomes law automatically (if congress is in session)

Congress is scheduled to go on recess this weekend for all of August, not returning until September 5th. So all Trump has to do is nothing, which he does very well.

McCain is cancer-motivated and called them all do-nothings.  Feels like a "daddy came home and you didn't do your chores" scramble.

That's my feeling. He will drag it out till the limit, then veto it, then force them to override while trying to bully them into failing.

Amash kind of surprises me: Amash says Trump could be impeached if Comey memos are true

but yeah, probably Russians in those woodpiles.

I think it was the bundling of the Iran sanctions into the bill.

No. Its not on the way to President's desk The Senate voted on a different bill. The Seneate still needs to vote on the House bill.

If Trump vetoes the sanctions bill, or simply refuses to sign it in the hopes that Congress' summer recess counts as them adjourning so that he can have an un-overrideable pocket veto, he will effectively be admitting to the world in no uncertain terms that he is Putin's b*tch. If he signs the sanctions bill, his usefulness to Putin will end and he will go down harder and faster than Ivanka on Father's Day.

2017-07-25 07:58:09 PM
Hasn't the WH all but announced they'll sign this one? Trump will have to defend the language about Russia meddling (and his base wont care anyway) but vetoing just to be overridden would be a sacrifice for nothing. There's no way a "winner" would want to look weak like that.

Plus there's all kind of good conservative angles on the other parts of the bill for him to focus on and call it a win.

Um. The interference was done before Trump was president. Not sure if you can impeach a person for crimes not committed while in office. Assuming that Trump had anything to do with it.

Serious question:
-Alot of news about how the Russians meddled in the election. Aside from a few sites Russians, not necessarily the Russian government, hacked, and supposedly did no harm at all, I have to say if there have been any specifics as to exactly how the Russians meddled I completely missed it. Can anyone enlighten me?

Apparently Schumer is going to fillibuster any motion for recess. So that may help.

Probably not, since it's basically veto-proof. It would only make him look even more crooked.

Now,  this is assuming Trump's handlers can explain this to him and/or if the sword of damoclese polonium tea is waiting for him from Putin.

No.  Well, yes.

Much like literally every other possible policy position, there have been mixed messages from the Trump White House.

A "win"?  Are you kidding me?  Just a "win"?  Noooo -- it will be the bigliest, most American, and most "Making America Great Again" thing that has EVER HAPPENED!  IN HISTORY! And don't forget, in a few months the whole thing will have been 45's idea all along and he had to drag the congress, kicking and screaming, to pass it.  A "win"!  Phaw!  Sir, you surprise me.

If Trump vetoes it the NWS is planning to issue a tornado warning in the vicinity of the Fox News studio.
