I've heard of this island - didn't a US aircraft carrier plow into it when it refused to move over the radio?

As long as they cleaned up the mess properly, it's all good.

It's haunted? Update the electrical. Especially junction boxes. Bleed from them interfere with your brain and cause mild hallucinations. You can lay a lot of ghosts to rest that way.

Meh... If your house is 50+ years old, there's a good chance someone died in it...

I think that's why Americans love new houses... superstitious people don't want to live in a house where someone died. Doesn't bother me any. I have an aunt that refused to stay in our house when I was a kid because she learned that someone committed suicide in the basement. She swore the place was cursed and would get a hotel if she was in town.

We eventually moved to another town, but we learned that a lady died in that one too, but from old age.

Not that big of a deal.

I've been to many a "haunted" place, including over night in old prisons and asylums, and nothing ever made me think there were any "spirits" or "ghosts" or anything supernatural. I'm friends with Grant Wilson former co-host of Ghost Hunters, he's one of the founders of Rather Dashing Games and we met at a gaming convention and have been convention friends ever since. He's in the camp of believe there's something out there based on his experiences. I've been to at least 2 of the places he's visited and spent the night in both (one a prison, one an asylum) and I never had any experiences because I'm curious about these things rather than fearful. I think people's fear plays more on how they interpret something as an experience than someone who is just curious about it all like me.

So if I had the $500K for an island, this wouldn't be the thing that stops me... It's being on an island, without a good way back to civilization, without a good source of internet, and of course, it being in Scotland that would keep me from owning it...

Jokes on them! I just moved into a place where someone got murdered a few months ago. I could care less. 3,000sf...and the cheapest rent around. My boss subsidizes so I can be close to work and on call. I literally walk to work, which saves me gas money on the car that was my bonus. Makes my husband's commute a breeze as well. Bring in the dead bodies, I could care less.

From what I understand is that generally unrested souls are the ones that haunt, looks like they caught the killer and gave the body a proper burial.

I see no mention of how many sheep are included. I just got back from vacation (British isles, etc), and after a few days touring the Scottish highlands I now believe that the law there requires that you own sheep.

I'd take this deal in a heartbeat. Let's be honest here: Depending on where you live in the US, it is quite possible that an American Indian, Confederate/Union solder, or even a combination of all three was murdered on your land some time in the last 525 years.

Just got back as well.  Looks like you could certainly raise some sheep on this island.  It's really quite close to the mainland as well.  Now, if only I could buy this place and keep earning income....

I'd say the catch is that it's a remote island off the coast of Scotland. Can't exactly just jump on the metro to get there, and the kinda sunny days seen in some of the photos are probably the best weather that place will see this century.

Stop doing that. "57 years" is correct.

fark it, I'd send the kids away to some boarding school during the year and live on my lighthouse island like a hermit and like it.  Well, once the internet withdrawl goes away.  I'd be that crazy old lady flashing her saggy bits at boats as they passed, fish like Smeagol.

When my wife and I bought our house we told our real estate agent that if they had any houses that were supposedly haunted or any grisly murders happened in to bump those up to the top of the list of houses we'd tour.

Her, extremely puzzled looking, "What?! But why?!?"
Me: "Because I'm an atheist, the ghost's natural enemy. I'm happy to get the relative discount for it having a problem I don't even believe in."
Her, "Well...... OK, yeah, now that does make sense. Sorry though! Don't know of any."

Every time I drive out to the family cabin I pass by spots where about a dozen of the green river killer's victims were found.  Creepy, but whatever.  Not getting rid of the cabin.

Yeah, I live in a place where lots of murders have taken place.  Dozens or so. The only downside is the basement's starting to get filled up.  I may have to get a shed or something.
