I read that as "play" and wondered "People have bands at their honeymoons now?"

Nope, that's just Garth Brooks, he's a genuine good dude.

Chris Gaines can pay.

His friends in low places will videotape the honeymoon, if you know what I mean.

Jokes on him. Now everyone will interrupt his concerts with marriage proposals to try and get a free honeymoon out of him.

It was pretty decent.

I remember when Garth was obsessed with Mango. Good times!

Back in the mid 90's when Garth Brooks was huge I caught one of his concerts on NBC and it made me a fan when I don't think I'd previously heard anything by him seeing as how I'm not a country music guy.

I've always thought of "The Beaches of Cheyenne" as one of the prettier songs in existence.

In basic (OSUT) one of the songs we had to sing was "Friends in Low Places," the other two were "Desperado" and "Lean On Me."

Jus primae noctis?

Unanswered prayers?

A song about how a guy is now happy that his high school romance failed. Even though then he was praying for it to work out.

Quite the time to propose.

I guess if she said no he could just thank god.

He and  Trisha are pretty well known for random acts ok kindness.  Prolly  used to it.

Wasn't Garth, but I seem to remember a story from about 10 years ago or so where a celebrity did something random for someone, I think it may have been a paid honeymoon as well, and was sued by another couple who "expected the same thing".

Might been a movie plot device instead of real.

Can anyone help jog the memory?

BalugaJoe: Chris Gaines can pay.

The chances of that happening are as good as Tony Clifton offering to cover it.

But you still have to admit that Garth is closer to C/W's roots than Florida-Georgia Line.

And Friends In Low Places is still a great song.

Not a fan of Garth Brooks or his music.

In fact I friggin hate country music, its so pandery & juvenile, how does anybody listen to that garbage?

Anyway. I've met Garth Brooks & he is one hell of a stand up fella, this story doesnt surprise me in the least.

Why am I picturing Garth Brooks at the back of a dimly lit hotel room, wearing only a Coors light t-shirt with the sleeves cutoff, holding a Sony camcorder, staring at the couple in the bed and saying y'all just pretend I ain't here

You need to loose some..  something. Dickishness? Vanity?

He's an old rich guy. He can be chunky if he wants.

This really depends on what country you listen to. There's a lot of juvenile and pandery country; but there's also a lot of juvenile and pandery pop, rap, etc. music. that sells to a lot of people: they relate to what the songs have to say, whether that's money and women, booze, booze and money, booze and women, drugs, etc.

There's also a lot of country out there that is fairly genuine, telling its own story about people from rural areas in the same way that there's a lot of rap out there that tells a genuine story about people coming up from the 'hood.

I can't relate to Rap's message a lot of times, and I just don't enjoy the sound of a lot of those types of albums. I also feel the same way about stuff like Skrillex and whatever. Doesn't mean you should shiat-talk it, tho, just because you don't like it.

Anyway. I've met Garth Brooks & he is one hell of a stand up fella, this story doesnt surprise me in the least.

Find me a pop, rap, or any other genre song that is even half as patronizing as "chew tebacca spit" & we'll talk.

"Barby Girl"? "West End Girls"? "Use Your Love Tonight"? Anything by Jay Z?

As long as it doesn't turn into a "invite Caligula on your honeymoon" type of thing, it's all good.

Not so much "creepy" but Garth Brooks is pretty cheesy.

I'll bet the bride and groom like to dress up like Urban Cowboys.

In a related note, Garth offered to pay for all of their meals as long as each meal contained tortellini.

What's creepy about it?

Don't like his music or listen to it, but even I know he's just an awesome human, and genuinely cares about his fans.

Gussied it up a bit, made it slightly more difficult/inaccessible, but otherwise proved to be little more than window dressing?

You're probably talking about pop country, which is one of the worst musical genres ever excreted. There is some really farking good country music out there though, listen to Willie's Roadhouse on Sirius XM, for example. He tends to showcase excellent artists that get almost zero airplay on FM radio.

So.....are you saying Garth isn't a genuine good dude?  Because if so,  I would question that you know anything about him.
