Can we stop with the "death of the X party" crap.  Neither party is dying.

2017-07-16 10:10:16 PM
Is the party itself dead? No. Are the party's ideals on which they were found, and maybe those recently proclaimed, dead? Many of them are. This is not the Republican Party of yore, where personal responsibility was tantamount and other stuff, like small government and the like. What he have now is something else that despises the very country from which it came.

2017-07-16 10:12:05 PM
As long as there are gun nuts, bigots, and religious zealots, the party is safe for the foreseeable future.

2017-07-16 10:18:19 PM
The Republicans has over 2/3rds of state governments as well as the Executive and Legislative Branches.

You still view 2016 as one loss by Democrats, when it's really yet another one.

That party died somewhere after Ike Eisenhower left the house.

There's still going to be a duopoly. Hopefully. Just possibly without one or both of the current parties.

Voter suppression, gerrymandering and dark money PACs don't hurt, either.

The parking lot where I live has a ton of Red State license plates. I think people are just fleeing those states, which doesn't really help.

I know it's ridiculous, and probably not true, but there's still a tiny part of my brain that believes Trump is doing all this to discredit the GOP for decades hence, because he hates them too, and because why not.

My biggest hope is that this total shiatshow of an administration will finally cause Democrats to actually show up to vote in the midterms and reverse a lot of those declines.   I'd hope that other Republicans would follow in Joe's footsteps and vote out the GOP crazies as well, but too many seem to be completely blinded by partisan rage to see how ridiculous the modern Republican party is.

Neither party is dead.  Neither party is dying.

Can we stop with the stupid op/ed pieces, mods?  WaPo is fine in regular news, but we don't need editorials.  That goes for Palmer report as well.

Stupid conjecture is stupid, and enough is enough.

Democrats are... less reliable.

2017-07-17 12:42:34 AM
If anything conservatives are a more united block than any time in the last 8 years with the added benefit of being totally insulated from reality. There's no need to confront the failings of Republican politicians if everything in your bubble tells you that it's all the liberals fault. A million aricles to the contrary aren't going to change that because the media is now the enemy.

It's based on the number of times a month you've read one of their articles.  You can get around it in most browsers by "opening window in private mode."  farked if you're on mobile, unfortunately.

Grumpy Cat, a song

Grumpy Cat, Grumpy cat where are they hiding you?
Grump Cat, grumpy cat it's not your fault...
They won't take you to the Hill.
You're obviously not their favorite critic.
You may not lie in a bed of roses,
And you're no friend to those with no brains.
I promise you before we're done,
All the world will smell what you are cooking Trump,
Grumpy cat, grumpy cat where are they hiding you?
Grumpy cat, Grumpy cat it's not your fault!

America's first Republican president reportedly said, "Nearly all men can stand adversity. But if you want to test a man's character, give him power." The current Republican president and the party he controls were granted monopoly power over Washington in November and already find themselves spectacularly failing Abraham Lincoln's character exam.

The Flim Flam Führer was dishonest to his wives and dishonest to his contractors. It is no surprise at all that his politics are dishonest as well.

Sigh.  Don't mind me.  I'm just getting old and leaning more towards the logical and practical.  I don't see political hysterics helping at all.  We've all been hearing chicken little on both sides of the isle claiming doom and gloom for ten years now.  The sky still hasn't fallen and it won't.  We could mute every op/ed source available and lose out on nothing.  They serve no productive purpose.  They are inflammatory only.

Stick with actual investigative journalism.  Washington Post actually does very well in this regard.  But the op/ed is valueless, no matter where it comes from.

Ow! That was my feelings!: You must assume 100% of Trump supporters will turn out in 2018 and 2020.

Okay so let me tell you all what is going to happen.

1: After a lot of Doomsaying and crying, the Democrats will actually take the house and senate in 2018. To much celebration.

2: Democrats will signal the dawn of a new era. To much celebration.

3: Democrats will announce that impeachment is off the table.

4: Democrats will tell everyone about all the great things they are going to get done.

5: Democrats will make friends with Trump.

6: Democrats will complain that they can't get anything done because too many democrats won't vote with them.

7: Democrats will call for the invasion of Syria.

8: Trump will be reelected.

The party that worships a zombie, guns, and a healthcare bill that would kill millions.

They can't die, because they are a party of Death, and how can you kill Death?

I'll believe it when they start hemorrhaging a bunch of seats on the state and federal level.

I have seen reports that his support with independents are plummeting so maybe there is something there.

They run total goons because they have no interest in being a serious political contender. It's a grift and I'm not sure why so many people have been falling for it for so many years. The Green Party's sole purpose is to show up every 4 years to ask for donations from the disillusioned.

Yeah, this. And I'd be willing to bet that a large majority of folks who claim that the Greens 'align closely to their beliefs' couldn't really tell you what the Green Party platform is. They just think Green = environmental/liberal/left wing.

Naw, they just stink like rotting zombies, but they have for decades and decades. No brains means nothing.

Governments and parties do not suddenly go "plop!"

Dead flies never cause the ointment to stink.

They rot and rot and rot for years.

Like Communism.
Like the USSR.
Like the Shah of Iran.
Like the Chinese economy.
Like the Japanese economy.
Like North Korea.
Like the Confederate States of America. LIke the Union before them.
Like the NB Tories who lost an Election and ALL 65 seats in the Legislature when Hatfield's Tories went down.
Like the Government of Alberta (not a repeat from the last time it became a one party state).
Like the Democrats losing the Senate.
Like the Know Nothing Party.
Like the Whig Party.
Like the Democratic Republicans.
Like the American Fascist Party.
Like the Reform Paty.
LIke the Democratic Firewall States in 2016.
Like the Federalists.
Like the Bull Moose Party.

All are alive and kicking to this day because Parties never die and electing the most corrupt, idiotic, vicious, stupid, arrogant, vain, childish President in history is not going to have any consequences.

Nothing has consequences.

Reagan proved that deficits don't matter. Nixon and Trump prove that nothing has any consequences. If the President does it, then it's not illegal.

Governments never fall.
Parties never die.
Countries never go "pop", Empire and all.
The economy is as sound as a dollar-pound.

Corruption, sedition, tyranny, plutocracy. These are all too big to fail, even if Obama spent all your money bailing them out the last time, leaving nothing to bail them out the next time except tax dollars or a gigantic dinosaurian Republican debt load, or the wiping out of entitlements for anybody poorer than your average Russian oligarch.

Dunno about the policy, but they've been breaking political news at least ten times a month.  They show up in other tabs regularly too.  Leaving us with:

1:  Don't waste clicks in other tabs.
2:  Figure out a way around it, which might require 5 minutes of research.
3: Pay a subscription/piggyback on Amazon Prime.
4: get the details second-hand from farkers.
