Yankees SUCK

Looks like Porcello is well on his way to being a 22 game LOSER this year.

I just tuned in to Sox up 3-0 with 2 strikes and 2 outs in the top of the 9th.  Game over before I could finish the sentence.  Go Sox.

I think you might have that reversed. Or you're just living in fantasy land.

The Yankees haven't won a series in like a month. I'll concede that once the Sox took a 3.5 game lead they haven't been able to put any more distance on them. They've had a 2-4 game lead this entire month, mostly 3.5 though.

The Yankees were the team that was flying high for most of the season. Now they've come back down to earth.

One more thing, just clicked the link. This is yet another example of a baseball thread going live on the Sports tab long after it's relevant.

This was just a box score of the first game of today's doubleheader. It really should have gone live this afternoon before the second game was played. Now it just looks silly. If I were an admin, now that it's too late, I'd just redlight this and forget I ever greenlit it in the first place.

It is baseball.  Give it a week and the roles will reverse.

How about that Judge homerun in the 8th inning? Oh...
15.5 hours of Yankmees Red Sox this weekend.

The Red Sox sound deflated.

GOOD

The Rays have a legit chance to win the AL East this year.

And the Astros will curb-stomp either of them.

also, the Rays have a very good chance of at least making the playoffs in the wild card slot, so you got that going for ya.

Guess there won't be a WS this year, since those are the only two American League teams.

Nobody around here ever thought this guy would be a one year wonder when it was as obvious as the day is long.  Sox fans are quite delusional

I am serious.

They took 3 out of 4 from Boston the other week. Don't underestimate this team.

Also, don't forget about September 2011 so quickly.

They'll be getting Matt Andreise back in their rotation in a few weeks and Kiermaier back in the outfield, on top of getting Ramos behind the plate.

I agree. They have a shot. either way, you guys are likely in the playoffs.

They have what, one player left from that team? Different players, different GM, different manager.

It's ok.  They still have armies in the Ukraine!

My source back in DC (my mom) says that everyone seems happy with the pick-up of the two relievers from Oakland.  That anyone in the current Nats bullpen hasn't been beaten to a pulp by the rest of the team is a surprise to me.  I would put the Nats batting line-up against anyone in MLB, but no lead is safe with the bullpen (up to now, I hope).

They split the 4 game series, didn't they? I don't understand the headline.

pastramithemosterotic: The Rays have a legit chance to win the AL East this year.

I think that's a reasonable statement. It certainly won't be the Jays or the Orioles.

What I really don't understand is how the Red Sox are doing it this year. They have good pitching, close to the top of the league, even though a lot of it has been a disappointment or injury plagued (Price, Porcello, Wright...) They have a decent offense, second highest average in the league, but have the worst power numbers and only 1 person batting .300. Defensively they've turned the fewest double plays, made a lot of errors, and have a lower fielding percentage. Yet there they are, with the second most wins in the league.

Meehhhh.... I was happy he had a great year last year, but also thought Verlander should have won the Cy. But regardless, I kinda thought it was a fluke year for him. It happens. Any year where you have most Ks, fewest walks, lowest WHIP, lowest ERA, and most IP of your 8 year career it's going to be suspect. Especially when the 7 years leading up to it show remarkable consistency of mediocrity. There was no upward trajectory to last year's level. After all was said and done, it was clear there was an outlier quality to his year.  But I agree a lot of people in Boston were lumping his name in with Price and Sale at the start of the year when talking about the rotation. Screw that. Hell, I wasn't even convinced Price was gonna do anything.
