Esteban Gutierrez cleared to drive this morning after yesterday's wreck. Fantasy picks are Pag, Hinch, Rahal, Daly. Let the clownshoes ensue!

Dunno if it's true, but I've heard that the cars on the grid are all the DCR has left.  2 transs, 8 sets of uprights.

And even if Coyne wanted to buy another chassis, I've no idea if there are any available.  I suppose there must be because of Indy, but...

This sucks, because the team was doing so well.  And then it all seems to have literally gone sideways.

Also, Aleshin getting sat down this week, but expected back for Mid-Ohio.  But if he does well, Saavedra might get a third Schmidt-Peterson car for the remainder of the season.

Not good.  I feel so bad for him and the team.

I recommend Reading this if you have some time.  Most of it is well known by serious fans of Indycar.  If you are casual, you definitely will want to read it.  Also, Tony Kanaan Says some things that might not be accepted too well by certain team/drivers.  He's absolutely right by what he says, but I was really surprised he spoke his mind.  I think he probably did it because he doesn't expect to be in the series next year, so why worry about consequences or pissing some people off.

Indycar/Tony Kanaan Interview

2017-07-16 03:13:12 PM
That interview makes it sound like the current driver market in Indy is the same as the market has been in F1 since the mid 90s. Although F1 isn't quite so dominated by pay drivers at the moment, that's more down to the smaller field than lack of people wanting to pay for a ride. Even getting a team to the point where you can bring in some pay drivers is proving beyond almost everyone who's shown an interest in joining F1 of late.

Eh, like you said, for those who follow the sport, there's nothing surprising there.  I would also be a bit surprised if Newgarden is getting paid much by Penske; I have a feeling most of his budget he's bringing himself still.  Pagineuad quite possibly as well, though he's got the chops to back it up.  But it was certainly his own backers that got him a seat in IMSA, and then let him move to Indycar.

I don't think there's really anyone being condemned in that interview.  Maybe Marco, maybe that's who the 'Hey Dad' line refers to (though I'm not sure), but even he's had a decent season or two in his career.

Kurohone: areer.

My only thought was maybe he was talking about Connor Daly since Derick Daly is his dad.  If that was who he was talking about then I would think that's unfair.  He's hamstrung on Foyt's team.  Yes he's not very experienced yet, but he's really in an unfortunate situation.  Perhaps I'm a bit biased though, He lives up the road from me; so I'm a bit prejudiced.

First driver than came to my mind was Chilton.  There's absolutely nothing in his career that justifies him being in an IndyCar.

Pippa works her butt off for sponsorships and is doing the Lamborghini series and cart instruction. Duno? Dunno.

Once upon a time there was a spark of talent there.  Her early racing was actually not bad, and she did alright in sports cars.  But I think she just decided that relying on the Citgo bank account was easier than refining her craft.

I actually checked that out when the picture was posted.  Last thing she has on her blog is that she was some sort of representative at an OAS meeting.  So basically moving from one rich persons hobby to another.

Chilton certainly never impressed in F1, even for the standards of the pretty poor teams he drove for.

The most blatant example in F1 right now is Jolyon Palmer who is fairly average by the standard of the field, but in a team that really should be aiming higher.

Hard to see from the replay so far who was at fault, but I think the suspension damage came from a second impact, not the initial punt into the wall.

Cyrene Valantion: Hard to see from the replay so far who was at fault, but I think the suspension damage came from a second impact, not the initial punt into the wall.

I think the order was Dixon hit Rahal in the back, and swerved left.  He bonks Power into the wall, which might have been where the broken toe link came from, cause Power turned HARD into Dixon after that, and slashed the tire.  To me on first watch it looked like Power was being his usual wanker self and trying to take out Dixon, but if his steering arm was broken already then....

Power hit Dixon with his right front before he rebounded into the wall.

They briefly mentioned Rossi and Sato bumped each other.  I totally missed that.  Did anyone else catch it, and if so, was it barely anything, or might it have had slight consequences to either of the cars?

So now it's TK screwing up. That sucks. Power going down, though, was awesome. I am sports entertained.

So, someone was saying in the F1 thread this morning that Alonso might race at Sonoma.

I wonder if he's giving any serious thought to transitioning completely to IndyCar. He's not staying at McLaren and the other teams are pretty well set, which leaves him out.
