I'm reading this in church right now. Thanks.

Seriously. This is nothing worse than what they put seminary students through. Just the Q&A makes the standard questions you ask your proctologist about "how many gerbils have you found rammed up someone's ass?" seem like shopworn lines from Band Camp.

Could be a good lesson for everyone to understand privacy issues.  Doctor can't talk about why one of his patients needed treatment for whip marks, madam can't mention that med student Bob has an appointment next Tuesday at 6.

2017-07-16 11:14:59 AM
I guess doctors should know about BDSM, but I suspect the students who took her up on her offer were less interested in expanding their professional horizons than in getting their kink on.

I wonder if people who engage in BDSM have a higher or lower rate of sex-induced injuries than people who stick to less kinky stuff.

The full-time dominatrix who said "I love what I do" has previously told how she charges £150 to cover clients custard as part of a bizarre sexual fetish called "sploshing".

That's right up there with diaper-wearing as an indicator of someone emotionally stuck way, way back in childhood. WTF.

How do you test students when every answer is, "Yes, mistress?"

2017-07-16 11:40:35 AM
As a doctor myself, I consider this a good idea. I worked with people in medical school who could barely make it through a full sexual history without blushing. I have several patients in my practice that are transgender and transsexual, I've had both female to male and male to female patients. Being able to have an actual honest discussion about sexual activity, proclivities, actions is a vital part of proper care. For example, I have one patient who is male to female postoperative. Looking at her you would say that there is no concern whatsoever and that she is female. However, she still has the risk for prostate cancer that a male would have.

In fact, it makes a world of difference in many cases. I had one patient who was addicted to hard drugs who got started on the addiction as way to blunt the pain that they were a person suffering from gender identity disorder. Once they started hormonal therapy for the gender identity disorder, their need for the hard drug started to vanish. Then I was able to get them off of them.

It may sound odd, but I think this could be very beneficial.

Adding a second thought, I look back and remember that medical school offers essentially no education on how to do a full sexual history, and essentially zero on non-binary sexuality. It's essentially assumed that every patient is the gender that they present as, and that all patients are heterosexual until proven otherwise. Given what I have seen in private practice, this can be a very dangerous assumption.

There were a number of students that I worked with who had never worked with a homosexual person, and never even seen a person that was transsexual or transgender. Could be something that would open their eyes a bit, and anything that does that is a good thing.

Probably injuries that are harder to explain and could be confused with abuse.

Ohio. Whitebread bullshiat Ohio. The students I'm thinking of were Indian, and I'm told that homosexuality is repressed pretty hard there, so it may just be they never knowingly worked with one.

Since Napier University has no medical school and therefore no medical students, this story is a bit implausible.

I agree. However, they openly professed that they'd never worked with a homosexual or transsexual person. That's why I put it the way I did. I do believe that it was the fact that they just never knowingly worked with one, but they claim that they never had.

Out of sheer curiosity I went to one when I lived in San Fran.  I grew up in the boonies so I used the move cross country to try some things (giggity)

Well I have an immense threshold for pain, not a brag but a fact.

It was a weird interaction. i didn't know what the boundaries were as in like how much pain do you actually inflict

Some of it felt good like how I actually enjoy a sunburn.  Most was "i don't get it"

But atleast I tried it and can actually understand how some people would really like it.
