Rico is mostly to prove guilt by conspiracy (Racketeering), but was also handily misused by the DEA to imprison grandmothers after framing them as drug dealers (on the testimony of complete strangers).  It won't apply to the autocratic junta that is now in control of law enforcement.

I remember being in high school and somebody asked, "What's Whitewater?"

The teacher said, "uneducated radio hosts." We then talked and learned about demagoguery and the potential dangers it poses to our democracy.

You give racists too much credit. Most racists are so ignorant they don't even consciously realize they're racists. It's why so many people who say inexcusably racist things always insist they're not racist.

So yeah, they don't think that, because they generally don't think too deeply about this stuff at all.

Think of it this way, if he spent two hours to make 10K that put his rate at a 10million a year. And all the fees from Mar-A-Lardo (that he constantly promotes) go right in his pocket. 400K a pop.

Nothing like being a member of a Country Club. Even better, an exclusive Country Club with a "No Libruls Allowed" clause, and then profit from it for being the owner, (while it lasts).

Yes, this is where the priorities lie with republiderps, at the Club with their rich buddies, uncaring to the needs of the people they are supposed to represent.

Illegal or not illegal this is why he should have separated himself from his businesses like all the smart people suggested. Even if what he is doing is perfectly aboveboard the appearance that what he does might be out of selfish interests doesn't reflect well on him or his office. Trump is a scumbag but it is entirely possible that he didn't get into politics to further enrich himself but since he refused to do the bare minimum and keep his business dealings at arm's length it taints everything he does.

Him personally profiting isn't relevant from the standpoint of election finance law. He would have to charge if he wasn't president.

The billionaires who own major ball clubs are doing it wrong.

Sure they get free money from the city, state, and maybe, feds, and they get little sidelines for more profit, and the tv stations are so happy to devote a third of the news hour to their profit centers, but they don't get to tax people coming and going.

Trump golf courses would only be more complete if they had a maternity hospital and a funeral home for cradle to grave profit.

Hey let's hold the outrage:

FTA: They were paid $15,221 for rent and food during 1 night.

I would imagine there were a couple hundred people there.

200 people is $750 per person.

Food including prep/service: $75/pp
Drinks including bartender/service: $75/pp
Valet arrive: $10/pp
Rent on a golf course: $10,000

That's a god-damned steal. I can't imagine hosting 200 high level people in NJ for less than that, except maybe at Dave & Busters.

Let's save our poutrage for the real money laundering going on at his properties:

I really hate Trump, but the cost at which this was provided was very low. This shouldn't be illegal, and it probably isn't.

The fact that Ivanka got $100,000,000 from Saudi Arabia is something that is almost certainly in violation of the Emoluments clause of the Constitution, but it has been forgotten in the storm of little bullshiat (of which this story is).

How am I a boot licker? I've had to organize events and this one isn't expensive, illegal, or abnormal. It just happens to be Trump's club.

Let's focus on the true problems, selling out our country. Not skimming a couple thousand in "profit" off of Republicans.

How is that a violation of the emoluments clause? It wasn't given directly to her, it was pledged to a charity.
