He got a standing ovation for his anti-Trump Pigs performance when I saw him in Tacoma. But then I am in western Washington.

Old news, I think.  We had a video of Waters doing Pigs with Trump pictures in Mexico City, months ago.

And CNN is like 'Waters DEFENDS his anti-Trump tour'... as if it needs a defense.

Roger Waters - "Pigs (Three Different Ones)"
Youtube QWLBtMz5OuY

What was your first clue, subby?

2017-07-16 04:51:34 AM
is this where the pendulum swings from "Roger Waters, Anti-Semite - Bad!" to "Roger Waters, Anti-Trump - Good!"?

2017-07-16 05:19:10 AM
Oh no! Who would have imagined that Rodger Waters would be a pro-union, pro-democracy, anti-corruption guy who would use his massive megaphone of a platform to speak out about unjust, cruel, bestial leaders who manipulate people into self-destructive political postures?!  Who would think he's speak out against selfishness, materialism, greed, cruelty, and shallowness of the soul that afflicts most of the world today?

Only anyone who'd heard his music since 1971.

Yep. He's been singing this same song since Nixon.

Probably tens of billions after an alien civilization lands and says, "Take me to your leader."

Of course then this happens.

KC was one of the first shows on this tour, and it was really hilarious to read the quotes from morons in the paper, shocked and saddened that Roger Waters, of all people, would want to make a concert political! Which made me wonder if these people, all this time, had been treating a song like Money as earnest and straight forward.

"Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash....damn right. Man Roger, you really know what's up."

Just saw him in Miami. Excellent show. Just before intermission he read a statement about local government/organizations that were boycotting his show, and which ultimately prevented some kids from a local youth group from performing Another Brick in the Wall with him:

In his statement Thursday night, after reading aloud the names of the students who were unable to perform, Waters said they had been "banned by the mayor of Miami Beach." Waters blamed pressure applied by "the Israeli lobby," which, he said, was targeting him for his support of pro-Palestinian human rights groups.

stonelotus: is this where the pendulum swings from "Roger Waters, Anti-Semite - Bad!" to "Roger Waters, Anti-Some Marmalade Manchild - Good!"?

Roger Waters, anti-authoritarian is more like it.  I'd rather doubt he gives a flying fark either way about Jews - I don't doubt a bit that Israel pisses him off.  There IS a difference - although one is often used as a cover for another.  In this case, any statements I've seen that he's made about Israel appear to be focused on things the government of Israel has done, not on Jews as a group.  He appears to have never lost the whole 60's "Fark The Man!" attitude that so many other artists have lost or grown away from - whether The Man is Jewish, Protestant, or from Rigel 7 it just plain seems to rustle his jimmies when people are systematically oppressing others.  What reasons, excuses, etc. people have for doing these things - regardless of how valid anyone else may or may not find them - don't seem to figure much into the equation, he just plain gets farked off with the whole idea.  This is sometimes a pretty good thing by my lights, and sometimes leads to stuff I don't agree with - but he is quite consistent in what he chooses to attack.  Religion isn't hardly his prime motivator, I'm not even sure it's on the radar.

Criticizing the Israeli treatment of Palestinians doesn't make one anti-semetic. I'm Jewish myself and I share his criticisms.

I believe you misunderstand my post.  I'm not saying Waters is being inconsistent.  I'm saying there's a great deal of inconsistency in the left's criticism of Waters.

I don't need to RTFA to know that.  Waters has made a lifetime out of just this.
