I think for any NFL player who's played in the last two decades, it's best to not think that you could have gone to the Browns.  If you did go to the Browns just be thankful you're not there.  If you are currently on the Browns, you should have a sit-down with your agent and discuss some future plans that do not include the Browns.

Wait you're serious? Allow me to laugh even harder.

/yes he was obviously better than any QB they've had since then...or ever...but its not like they drafted Super Bowl caliber players at any other position either

he must've really liked stocking shelves because that's the only way that fantasy could've ended

He took the LA/St. Louis/LA Rams to two Super Bowls and the Chicago/St.Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals to their only one -- and had all three tied or in the lead with less than a minute to go.

If he says he could have dragged the Browns to a Super Bowl, I'm going to go ahead and believe him.

I took the Browns to the Super Bowl about ten minutes ago.

Would Couch be a hall of famer if a professional football team drafted him?

The Browns were actually on the cusp of being something when Bottlegate happened. A lot of people don't remember this but that game at the very least cost them the playoffs that year but more than likely served to reinforce the losing culture around the team, though they made the playoffs the next year only to lose to Pittsburgh (Northcutt drop). And how many wins would Warner have been worth to that team?

It was astonishing to me that they never even mentioned Bottlegate in Believeland.

What's he supposed to say?  "My success was part of a team effort, and by having a quality organization and top-notch players around me I was able to have the career I had"?

Oh, right.

/Browns fan around that time
//still wear my Couch jersey
///not bitter, really

I'm from Cleveland and a Browns fan, and I've never heard of bottlegate. This must be another made up thing by people not from Cleveland. I'm not even gonna google it. This would explain why it's not in Believeland.

In the last 18 years, the Browns have had two winning seasons and made the playoffs once.  Unless you're starting Steve Rogers at QB, no one person can make a dent in that.

Refs borked a call in 2001, likely costing Cleveland the game.  Fans threw bottles on the field.

Kurt, the Arena League scheme was key for you doing well in the Greatest Show On Turf system.  Please do not take your Barnstormer years for granted.

Also, paper please.

Kurt Warner was a beast in the playoffs. If he gets a team into the post season they definitely have a chance at going to the Superb Owl.

Cost them the payoffs? Even if they had beaten the Jaguars, they would have had to win out just to tie the Ravens. Sure, they had the tiebreaker over the Old Browns, but they didn't come close to beating the Packers or Steelers in weeks 15 and 17. At best, beating Jacksonville would give them an 8-8 season.

Depends.  If you are good, you might want to go there when young, then look for a payday to leave.  Unless you can find an opening on a good team, then forget the are actually an NFL team.

Maybe you never heard of Otto Graham.  Dude has 7 world championships in 8 years.

I wouldn't even say Warner was better than Tim Couch.  Couch has no offensive line on an expansion team, while Warner had Orlando Pace at Left Tackle, of the best in NFL history.

There's no way that second part is a serious post, none at all.  Not better than freaking Tim Couch?

Warner doesn't even belong in the hall of fame. He belongs in the hall of OK. He had Isaak Bruce, Marshal Faulk, Torry Holt, Hakim and Phroel. With a good O line and a damn good defense. Farking Sanches could've won that one superbowl. Over rated.

Well, the guy who started the year Warner was a third string QB couldn't, and nobody did before or after him.  Why is it that only after Warner started playing the Rams started to roll over the league?  Why did nobody else take the Cardinals to the Super Bowl?

Those teams were so stacked that Kurt Warner - Kurt Warner! - took each of them to the Suberb Owl, winning one.

I mean, if those teams had so much talent that Kurt Warner, of all people, could lead them to success, then Kurt Warner cannot have been a very good quarterback. QED.
