I was wondering if this was going to be about the insistence about the white dress code and forcing to young men to change their underoos to white.

I would have thought the article would at least acknowledge that Serena and Anna are both not playing but I didn't see their names in the whole article. Considering that Serena usually trumps the men's 3-4 seeded player, a lack of 6 matches to this point along with probably 2-3 that Anna would have had makes up a chunk of the reason for this year having a drop.

Swings in talent probably play a role as the men's game has a strong top 4 in marketable names that the women's doesn't since Kerber is inconsistent and Woz can't seem to win the big one. If Konta can pull to top 3 next year, she'll get a few spot on Centre as a Brit. The one the article should have focused on was Kerber getting a court 2 for rounds 3 and 4. No way the 1 seed should ever be off centre or court 1 no matter name recognition barring issues with the court.

I figured the tradition would be getting pissed off and assaulting the ball boys/girls.

I don't think there have been many ball boys/girls taking a funny bounce/shot. I think during the Nadal match, one of them got a nosebleed and had to run off.

Women need to play the best of 5 sets....until then, womens titles will always be inferior and they should be paid less.

Stfu till then.

Article is ridiculous nonsense. The women have been the more marquee side of the tournament for the last decade or two

That's actually the point of the article, I thought.  Women's tennis has been far more compelling than men's tennis, which has degenerated into watching two guys bomb ace after ace past each other, for some time now.  The article is pointing out that even with this fact, Wimbledon still puts far more men's than women's matches at Centre Court.

I'd like to see a comparison of Wimbledon to the other majors, though.  Is Wimbledon really worse about this than the other majors?

Women's tennis is more compelling?.... No, its as boring as it has ever been.

Uhhh, well, I guess if the amount of womens matches played on center court at Wimbledon is an issue, you might have too much time on your hands...

I'm so sick of hearing about court scheduling, from both the women and the men. it's all about money, marketing, and optics. the matches most likely to draw the biggest crowds are scheduled on Centre, period. they sell the most seats and are most likely to have ticket holders actually show up instead of staying home because the top player they wanted to see was scheduled on a different court.

with Serena and Sharapova out, the women's draw takes a big hit on marketability. on the men's side, of course Murray (British, world #1, defending champ) and Federer (7-time winner, most popular player in the world) are going to get Centre over Nadal and Djokovic. just STFU, play your match, and let your racket do the talking.

The men's matches that get Centre Court are generally not of the type you describe.  Federer, Nadal, Murray, Djokovic- they're the big draws, and they're certainly not the big bombers that tennis purists complain about.
