So, seriously, how does the average person get a hold of something like sulfuric acid or whatever else is used in these attacks? I would've thought bleach would be the go-to chemical for criminals of this nature, because it's sold practically everywhere. It can also produce all kinds of other nasty shiat through reactions with cleaning products.

Yes, that's totally why their murder rate is the same as ours... or less than a fifth of ours, but, you know, that's probably just a rounding error.

shiat, it's harder to kill ONE. I know which I'd rather be attacked with (or attack someone with if I was in the mood for murder).

You just go down to Home Depot or whatever and get something with muriatic acid. You can use it to clean masonry & stuff, or you can really fark up someone's day.

. . . when I lived upstairs from the Worst farking coont Ever, I did a lot of wishful research on ways to really, REALLY fark up her day.

Experts have linked the rise to a crackdown on the use of knives and guns, saying street gangs increasingly use corrosive substances, which are more readily available, instead.

Knife attacks are preferable to gun attacks.  Fewer potential victims, confined to a much smaller area.

Acid attacks are preferable to knife attacks.  Fewer still potential victims, confined to an even smaller area (unless you've got, like, a super soaker full of the stuff, I guess.

I love this argument. If you exempt all these deaths, it somehow means guns are much safer and aren't killing as many people. Because reasons.

It's the worst argument. The argument that, "if some one really wants to kill the self they'll find some way," is demonstrably false. Gun suicides account for a minority of attempts but a vast majority of successes. Furthermore, a tiny minority of attempters ever reattempt. It demonstrates a callous disregard for the reasons people attempt suicide.

Guns really do stand alone in the ability to end people's lives in an instant of anger, madness, or twitch of the finger.

dittybopper: You'd think they would start detecting a pattern after a while.  Not the toolWEAPON, the tool WEAPONuser.

FTF everyone.

Guns are weapons. They are weapons made to kill. Any and all attempts to retcon their intended purpose of perforating people until they die is sinister intellectual dishonesty.

Don't give me that knife or baseball bat or "they're for target practice" bullshiat. You know what guns are made to do. You wouldn't be so eager and happy to buy and showcase them if they weren't capable of taking a life from 30 yards.

And yes, before you ask, I would consider the dinky 30-pound traditional bow I use for recreational archery a weapon, and I would GLADLY give the government that bow and all my arrows and quivers if it would help save lives.
