Aias

Think of the movie "Deliverance," Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland, and the Simpsons episode where Homer and Bart go river rafting.

Did any of the rafters have a earl perty mouth? 'Cause that would have been cool.

"But mainly what we found was that everyone was really gunning for peace and that was wonderful. People would call out to us from the banks, saying 'It means peace is coming now that you are here', which was pretty amazing," she said.

Aias-

dueling banjos because down south in various swamps, rivers and what not you can find some banjo playing people hanging out, or at least that what movies and tv portray

"Every other person was carrying an AK-47"

You think that's bad? Next time, try rafting the Tigris. There, every other person is shooting an AK-47.

That was pretty amazing. 'Course I would have been more impressed if they had braved the Thames and all its deadly floating turds, but still, pretty spiffy.

So is the Nile officially longer than the Amazon? Isn't the Amazon longer if all its tributaries are counted, or something like that?

amazon has more volume.

But the Nile has a better acoustics?

/cheers basstovin, thought it was something like that

I thought the Missouri-Mississippi river was longer, but rarely counted as one river. Not completely sure on that, I could be wrong.

Mississippi. That's fun to type.

I was disappointed by his lack of a moustache in the movie. But yeah, despite the lack of 'stache, great movie.

"There's about a 100-kilometer (62-mile) stretch of massive white water with some of Africa's biggest crocodiles and hippos."

I love white water rafting and 62 miles of rapids sounds inviting until you get to the croc and hippo part...

It is a sad statement that rafting a million miles down some river and crocodiles are tied for 9th-most dangerous thing there, and humans occupy all the positions above.

Wouldn't it be great if we lived in a world where drowning, falling to your death and being eaten by a crocodile were the most dangerous things in a 4,000+ mile river rafting adventure?

Brockway,

yea I'll say. Back to good ol' man vs. nature, (or i.e. man vs. himself), as opposed to man vs. another man who we'll treat as evil even tho we're all vulnerable, feeling humans in God's eye. *sniff sniff*

But anyway, that's what I wanna do someday. raft to my heart's content in someplace mysterious and unknown. :P
