At least number four managed to turn her frown upside down.

And why do we almost never publish the photos of men who are arrested on prostitution charges? Funny how public shaming efforts never seem to swing in that direction.

"Clearwater is not where you come to solicit a prostitute," Chief Dan Slaughter said in announcing the arrests. "If you do and are caught, Clearwater Police undercover officers will add your name to the list of those soliciting prostitutes."

ZOMG, blackmail!

Am I faking outrage right, Friends of Drew?

Also, #1 looks like she'd have been a lot of fun a few miles earlier on the road, and #5 is kind of cute.

Bruce Williams, 67, solicitation for prostitution

I can't figure out which one is Bruce, there's a few candidates but really hard to narrow it down.

Why would a guy ever pay money to sleep with any of those nine women? Save your money and just fap your evening away.

Or you could just stop arresting people for prostitution.  Legalize, regulate, tax.

Because we would rather shame the women who are being exploited by sex traffickers, because of their mental and addiction issues, than the men who are exploiting them.

Personally, I think prostitution should be legal, if for no other reason it would give these women the right to go after their pimps for violating their labor and human rights.

But then the local pols would lose the voting support of sex-hating, sanctimonious old people. (you know, the only ones who think voting is a worthwhile activity)

Round these parts (Ontario) , the cops don't seem to be into the whole public shaming about sex thing.that the Americans in the southern states seem to thrive on.

I find the collection of faces sad because these women could all have a real, normal life somewhere.  Legalization and regulation could enable doing something about the STIs and the pimps, human trafficking, etc.  But The Oldest Profession will always have a presence somewhere near every large population center.

One, perhaps two of the mug shots made the face look like one eye was glass.

It's a fine idea, I suppose, to try to shame the Johns.  I get that.

Here's an idea.  Why don't you spend some time getting them women some help?  Because they clearly have REALLY BIG problems if they are resorting to prostitution.

So... something I learned recently. Essentially the modern day "pimp" is not what they originally were. The traditional pimp was almost more of a marketer, working to drum up business for an escort. There's a study out there showing that women who have a proper pimp actually make more than women who do everything themselves... which makes sense really, most companies hire someone to do the marketing.

Caveat: The thing pimp has become synonymous with, that is getting women addicted to drugs, taking advantage of them and forcing them onto the streets, is pure evil.

I'm reading a true crime novel where the prostitute's story is unusual. She used to be an excellent detective. But she had had her sister take her academy entrance exam because she wanted to go on vacation. (This was encouraged by her police officer boyfriend who subsequently ratted her out when she wanted to break up with me.)

While she might have been able to weather the storm (cops had been able to keep their jobs having done worse), she felt resigning was the right thing to do. From there, more bad decisions regarding boyfriends got her addicted to crack and, eventually, she turned to prostitution.

Her role in the true crime in question was that, unlike other street people, she felt obligated to help solve the murder of another prostitute - and she didn't even ask for consideration on a couple of outstanding charges in another jurisdiction. She did it because it's the right thing to do.

Crack is one hell of a drug. And poor character judgment is one hell of a ticket to a ruined life. (It should have been obvious to anyone her boyfriends were bad men.)
