(NJ.com)   President Trump will spend the Fourth of July weekend in Washington, D.C. to absorb and reflect on all the nation's history that has unfolded within the sacred walls of the White House. Just kidding. He's going to go play golf in New Jersey   ( nj.com) divider line

Next time Democrats should run a ferret.

Is this a break from some sort of presidential tradition? If not I don't really give a shiat. Plenty of real issues with this president.

Sorry, but golfing every farking weekend - after criticizing Obama roundly and loudly for golfing and vacationing too much - is at the root of what's wrong with this president.

2017-06-27 06:19:09 AM
Trump sure does play golf a lot. Presidents should be doing important things, not playing golf. I'll bet he's really a Muslim or something.

2017-06-27 06:25:26 AM
We are swimming through this shiat. And it is chaotic, confounding. But not to the historian. Historians, I bet, will be painfully clear about this presidency. And brutal.

You liberacefartos don't understand that Trump driving his golf cart over an elevated green is him celebrating Washington and Lincoln charging up San Juan Hill to singlehandedly bring Capitalism to the French and win the War of 1812.

2017-06-27 08:11:02 AM
And this is different from every other weekend... how?

2017-06-27 08:14:31 AM
Why is it all of a sudden OK for a president to play golf.

BSABSVR followed by IOKIYAR

If a Democrat is President, we can expect golf to be a librul elite pastime again.

4th of July in DC is pretty great

The fact that it's not different from every other weekend is actually the problem.

Then again, I'd rather he play golf all day every day than do whatever horsefarkery he'd be up to otherwise.

- Smoke in in Lafayette Park
- Nats usually have a home game
- The Smithsonian has Folklife Festival on mall, usually with some good food
- Lots of music at both ends of the mall
- A fireworks show that would be just the finale in most other places

It's just a big party on the mall

Look Trump is absolutely horrible, but I honestly can't say there is a "wrong" place in America to be celebrating the Fourth of July. His golfing is absolutely excessive, but I believe Trump was too short sighted and ignorant to realize how much technology enables a President to get "work done" when not sitting in the oval office. Now that he realized what he is able to do even whilst golfing, he has quietly stepped back criticism like that and you never hear it repeated by his claque.

the thing that should really burn you is that even though he plays and stays at his own courses, he charges the taxpayers for it, tens of millions so far. It is good to be the king.

He also promotes his friends and families products on twitter. I'm pretty sure that's not okay.

A 70-year-old man playing golf every weekend and working part time isn't an American President.

It's a retiree.

Grew up in Florida, so I know the difference.

Hell, you seem to think he's working while he's in DC.

His supporters will have zero issues with this yet if this was Obama, they'd want him burned at the stake for dishonoring America on its birthday

it's the blatant hypocrisy that burns me up I think, might even be more so than what Trump is actually doing (or not doing)

Frankly don't care where he spends the holiday but... shouldn't he at least be spending it with his wife and youngest son? Article doesn't mention if they are with him.

/holy moly I feel sorry for that little boy.

Golfing aside, it's no crime for a president to spend the holiday weekend in America's greatest state.

He's probably not even an American citizen. I heard he was born in some place called "Queens", which sounds like some little monarchy somewhere, and, as you say, probably Muslim.

Used to be when you heard of a big storm, the discussion always turned to the loss of the tourist trade in New Jersey if the beach was washed away, or it rained out a big weekend.

Now, it's the hope that a golf course or two gets the brunt of a freak F5 tornado, or a micro hurricane, that takes out a golf course center for a decade and is best repaired by making it a garbage dump.

I suppose if there wasn't a bagful of tweets from Trump accusing Obama of neglecting his duties while doing the exact same thing he is doing, then it wouldn't be a big deal. Since there is, though, it just adds to the list of incredibly stupid things Trump has done since he got the presidency, and it is fun to point them out.

That this needs to be mapped out probably says more about the explainee than the explainer.

From the White House it will be a great view. I have seen it from a few rooftops in the area and it was always fun. Only thing that has sucked in recent years is the no fun police putting up fence all around the mall and searching people. When I was a kid back in 19 digitty 6 it was a hell of a party down there, now off to go yell at a cloud and adjust the onion on my belt.

Sigh. It's not as great as it used to be. People used to show up with couches and kegs and have an all day party on the Mall. NORML had a smoke-in and all day concert round the back of Lincoln, and cops just ignored it. Now it's still great, concerts, fireworks, etc., but a little less free-wheeling. A lot less. Sigh.

I miss those days too, even the people floating in rafts in the reflecting pool.
