Otherwise also known as how to properly combine a 3-piece band, a DJ, an MC, and lyrics that aren't about money, biatches, drugs, and guns with a great beat and tunesmithing.

Does a deaf person still get some "enjoyment"(?) out of the bass, etc, if it is strong enough, like they might feel it in their body.... certainly, a sign language interpreter like that would heighten the experience.

Yes, plus they could be legally deaf without being 100% deaf.

Because there is much more to a concert than just the music.

Otherwise, why would anyone go to a concert when they could just listen at home?

My favorite band has been using a spotlighted interpreter on stage for the past ten years, and I think it's stupid as f*ck. It's a gimmick, a fad, patronizing to the hearing-impaired, and something that will one day fade.

1st show I saw was Primus/Public Enemy/Anthrax at Irvine Meadows. I think the final song of the night where everyone is on stage is on you tube.

I was no where near the stage.

Went to Irvine Meadows Lollapolluza around '94.  Ministry was intense, but the Primus/PE/Anthrax show had a lot more talent.

Pretty sure i was at that show too, but it was a sneak in affair. Half the fun was drinking in the bushes waiting for an opportunity and then running after the first wave or two of people got caught. :)

Such a rare thing when the remix blows the original away. Especially when the original was pretty good.

I hadn't realized that the Banana Splits were still touring. How special that must be for you!

I've been using a spotlighted interpreter for many years and she also does the pre-show M&G with fans. I consider her a full-on band member, not a gimmick.

If your feelings are that strong about the use of an interpreter I suggest you go to the band's site and post your opinions. I would recommend that you also post your email and phone number so that like-minded people can congratulate you on your courage and perception.  ///o

Some deaf people have residual hearing that can be helped by hearing aids or devices.  Some can hear certain frequencies.  Some can't hear anything but they can feel the vibrations of the bass.  There are many levels of deafness and many ways for the deaf to enjoy music.

It was Rock The Bells when Rage Against The Machine reunited. Also got to see Cypress Hill, Rakim and the Wu Tang Clan. Sadly, ODB was still very dead at this point. Still put on a killer set.
