All the rest is tied up in bank accounts they need your help with. If you help them, I'm sure you'll become very rich.

I know two people from Nigeria whose parents are generously wealthy. I've never once questioned how that came to be, just assumed it came to be in ways I don't want to know.

Wall Street is here to help. There's now a fund so anyone can invest in Nigeria:

Disclaimer:
I am not employed by Global X, I do not own shares of this fund, and this is not investment advice. Consult a qualified investment advisor before putting your retirement savings in Nigerian companies.

Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa outside of South Africa, I think.

Seriously thanks to Asian investment in mineral and natural resource extraction Nigeria is much better off than people realize.  Factor in the Arab Spring and the resultant dumpster-fires that are Northern African economic engines and boom Nigeria is the winner.

That said I still would be very careful doing business there.

He defrauded people by asking them for money to help them get a green card. This is a pretty common scam in Nigeria. And I'm pretty sure the Nigerian ambassador that had half a million dollars to give him knows all about scams himself.
