The future first round pick will be the Los Angeles Lakers' 2018 pick if it's within the No. 2 to No. 5 range of the 2018 draft. If it is not, the Celtics will instead receive either Sacramento's or Philadelphia's first round pick in 2019, whichever is more favorable. However, if either of those 2019 picks result in the first overall selection, Boston will instead receive the other first round pick.

Seriously, why the fark do trades of NBA draft picks always need a road map?

Because there almost as many future bets-on-bets in NBA trades than there are in the hedge fund market.

Markell Fultz visited the 76ers, you may end up with him instead.

If the Lakers take a pass on him, he goes #5 to Sacramento.  Fultz is going #1.

Anyone who takes Lonzo is going to get everything they deserve, right LaVar?

I don't think subby watches basketball.

When did they fail in taking the #1 pick before?  Collins?  Iverson?  Simmons?

And the pick is going to be Fultz.  Not sure why there's speculation in this thread otherwise.

The only time the Sixers failed with the #1 pick was when they stupidly traded the pick to Cleveland in 1986. And that probably wasn't even the dumbest trade they made that day...

Fultz is literally the only lottery-caliber player that even makes sense, given the Sixers roster. Not only do they need a PG, if Simmons ends up being a "point forward" like he was in college (I.E: great handler and passer, but sh*tty shooter), then a supposedly great passing/distributing-first PG like Lonzo would be redundant. A PG who can handle the ball yes, but also reliably create his own shot while also spot up for catch & shoot opportunities is a better fit, which Fultz seems to be.

The Celtics are basically playing the wait-until-Lebron-leaves-or-retires game here.

They aren't even close to dethroning them which was proven in the ECF, so why not stockpile, get big name FA, and then make a serious run.  Let's face it, if Rondo doesn't get hurt do they even get out of the first round this year? What about the wizards? They could have easily gotten rolled by them too

Actually, the funniest scenario would be Ball to the Knicks. That would shatter the unintentional comedy scale as we know it.

I stick by my Raptors idea. Put him in a completely different country in the least basketball city in the NBA. Watch TSN & CBC ignore the fark out of the father until he goes nuts...er.

I would pay good money to see that meltdown.

Know a 76er's fan because he lived in Pennsylvania and saw Dr. J once.  He seriously has been destroyed by the Hinkle cool-aide, I mean yes the idea of getting lots of drafts picks is cool but only if you can actually draft a team - you know players who can play at every position.

Hinkle seemed to say "we need a point guard so this draft we will trade around and draft 4 point guards", then the next few years "we need big men, how many injured centers can we draft in the first round?".  His trade process wasn't bad in the idea of getting draft prospects, but I mean sooner or later you actually need a team and he had no idea how to construct one.

Hinkle was playing fantasy draft as near as I can tell.

They ain't got nothing on screwing up a draft choice like the Pistons do. Darko for the loss.

It's Hinkie, and as a Sixers fan who briefly lived down the street from AI, I hated it but I agreed with it.  What he did was smart with the way the NBA is set up and he never really got a chance to see it through because League and the Colangelo's stepped in and forced him out.  There really isn't enough NBA level talent to fill out 32 teams and that talent level drops off dramatically making only half a dozen teams at the most viable contenders depending on injuries.  With only 5 guys on the court, to get to that championship level you need to get lucky and have top pick in year when there is a generational type player like Lebron or get lucky with later picks that can be developed into perennial allstars like GS or SA.  The Sixers were stuck in mediocre land and Hinkie maximized our chances to land a Superstar by moving the mediocre guys like Iggy and MCW.  I'll take just 4 years of sucking to become a championship contender over being irrelevant for over a decade like the Cavs and GS were before they hit the lottery.  His worst mistake was taking Okafor over Porzingis.  He is a weirdo and not very likable as a person, people hated him at first but Philly fans can see a light at the end of the tunnel and now understand the method to his madness.

A Fultz/Embiid/Simmons core could be really good in a few years. Milwaukee/Philadelphia ECF, here we come!!
