(Pitchfork)   So, according to Morrissey, putting a "LIMIT ONE PER CUSTOMER" sticker on a limited-edition pressing of a The Smiths single is a conspiracy to "freeze sales" instead of ensuring all fans get to buy a copy and not pay outrageous prices on eBay   ( pitchfork.com) divider line

Morrissey still has fans?

2017-06-18 05:07:17 PM
As much as I am loathe to agree with the labels or the retailers, I think the headline makes a good point. Better to ensure that the fans can buy a copy directly instead of paying someone's eBay markup.

Trent Reznor did something like that for his 3-city "Night of Nothing" mini-tour that he did in the late 90s. I went to the one in Atlanta.

They used a voucher that was paid for in cash and notarized on the spot that was good for 2 people. He did it for the fans and it was incredible seeing them in such an intimate setting.

Anyway, the point is sometimes it's not a bad idea to take steps to see that your more ardent fans are able to participate as intended.

If he's worried about everyone getting a copy then why the f*ck is it released as a limited edition?

Double-pack with a photograph
Extra track (and a tacky badge)?

Best of! Most of!
Satiate the need
Slip them into different sleeves!
Buy both, and feel deceived......

/headline kinda paints a vulgar picture....

Anything with Morrissey in the title isn't worth the read.

/ No respect for the d-bag.

pxlboy: As much as I am loathe to agree with the labels

Loath

is an adjective. Loathe is a verb.

I stand corrected.

Well, Discogs has the 12" for $29.99 so HMV kind of has a point here in trying to stop the Discogs/eBay price gougers.

That said, if you're going to fork over $30 for "digital" vinyl remasters, you deserve to be ripped off.  You could probably buy all the original singles for that price.

Fark resellers. Whether it's vinyl, video game consoles, or whatever hot toy parents are killing each other over for Christmas, fark 'em.

Poor little Steven, the world has let him down again.

Uh, HMV bought them already, they can resell them however they want.  They seem to care more about his fans than he does.  Unless he figures they're not going to sell them all that way.  Mozza  must never've heard of PT Barnum.

Makes sense from a business standpoint. The sellers don't get more money from the scalpers, and they also don't have to deal with the headache of annoyed customers.

Morrisey gets an unusually high amount of attention on this site.

"What difference does it make" was a great help throughout my teenage angstiness, so thanks for that.

Now shut up and go away, you prat.

TL, DR; Morrissey is still the whiniest fark around... Even more so than Donald J Trump, it seems.

Of course he does. Morrissey doesn't care, he just wants his paycheck

Maybe he should be throwing his arms around Fark instead of Paris.

I just think it's odd. Aside from this site, I really hadn't heard much about him since The Craft soundtrack came out. Is he some kind of emo-Ted Nugent now?

Morrissey demands people buy multiple copies of his new record while wearing disguises.

I'm just pleasantly surprised that he didn't say something racist while making this complaint.

I'd need to know the deal between band/label/retailer before I pass judgment.

For example, if he gets paid according to something like weekly or monthly sales, fark yeah you want stores selling as many as possible as fast as possible. If there X thousand for sale, I'd want them sold and I wouldn't care who buys them. If one guy wants to buy all of them that's fine with me. Sell, Mortimer, sell!

If he has no stake in this and is just talking shiat, then he's the ahole.

I'd guess he has absolutely no stake in it (and neither would the label) unless copies get shipped back, which seems unlikely in this scenario.

I would love to wish Morrissey an unhappy birthday, because he's evil and he lies and if he should die, I might feel slightly sad, but I won't cry.

Someone needs to give him some bruises bigger than dinner plates. Love the music,  don't like the man.  (Not since he's canceled EVERY show of his that I've bought tickets for. )  Yes,  I'm still bitter.

At this point, if you willingly put down your own money for a ticket to a Morrissey concert, you deserve whatever you get.

"Later in the note, he encourages people to ignore the sticker and, by any means necessary, buy multiple copies of the record from HMV."

Then have a hissy fit when he sees it going for more online. Not because it is annoyance to his fans trying to locate a copy, although I am sure that is what he will claim. No, it will be because he isn't making a profit off of that as well. That and the universally known fact that he just loves to hear himself biatch about shiat.

In other news this week: It will rain Tuesday. Morrissey takes issue with and is offended by this.

I had a dude at work that bought his girlfriend tickets. "I get the glory of buying them for her...then the eventual refund when the dick decides to cancel. Morrissey takes all the blame."

That is evil genius at work I guess, but he was right. He got his money back.

I once knew a gentleman with the last name Morrissey. He was exceptionally proud of his surname. I never could figure out why anyone would want to be on the same "level" as that self-wanking douchebag. But he was and it took milliseconds before I started formulating an exit plan to get away and stay away.

That's because she's a girlfriend and not a wife.
If she was a wife, she would get the money and go buy something more expensive, using his credit card to make up the difference

/wife doesn't complain when I buy gun parts
//usually doesn't even want to know how much
///I can't complain too much
