Bastards.  Those were organic free-range ducklings.  Now they've been conventionally rescued.  Mother duck will never take them back into the nest.

I just spent a week in Queens. Astoria, to be exact. Well, we stayed in Astoria but spent most of our time in the City. I thought it was very nice, actually. Had a great panini at Il Bambino on 31st ave and a few pints at Daley's bar. And the view across the east river into Manhattan from under the Pepsi sign is one of the best in the city. so there!

/nice to hear about the ducks though.

I grew up on a lake with lots of ducks. Three times in my childhood, we took in and raised ducklings that had, for whatever reason, been separated or abandoned my momma duck. They do very well in a raise and release situation.

/also duck mating is brutal and pretty gang-rapey. Very eye-opening for a five year old...

Could be worse it could be Staten Island, or Jersey.

I want to go to Queens so damn hard. New York State Pavilion, Queens Museum, I missed out on all that.

I've only been to Gantry Plaza State Park, a bit of Astoria and Citi Field

here's the view from above Gantry Plaza State Park:

I was born and raised in Bellrose, Queens. We moved up state in 1992, but I will always be a Queens girl. I love to confuse my kids, by telling them that Queens is not Long Island. It's part of the City. When you reach the border of Queens and Nassau, you walk onto Long Island.I also have a lilting Queen accent. Each Burrow has there own. My kids laugh at it all the time. I would tell them to clean up the flaw. They laugh and say what's a flaw mom, spell it.My sisters kids tease them too. Do not make fun of Queens!

They are ducks.  They can fly.  Therefore,  they aren't stuck anywhere.

Did they, at the very least, take them to subway?

When they get older they can always fly to Poughkeepsie.

I live just around the corner. Il Bambino is solid spot.

Astoria is a great place to live. I have been here for 18 years. It has seen a huge influx of the H-word lately, and development is really starting to ramp up now, but the Greek community is so strong that the kind of changes seen in places like W-burg seem unlikely.

Famous last words, I know.

Me too. Also Jackie Gleason, Rodney Dangerfield, Patrick McGoohan, and the Ramones.
As a matter of fact, I can't think of one awful person who has come from Queens. Ever.

Do not go to Astoria, Queens. Ever. It is terrible and will give you rabies. Jackson Heights is similarly awful and will also insult your mom and tell bad stories. LIC once peed on my rug.

Queens pizza is prepared by escaped mental patients and the Korean BBQ joints send their profits to Pyongyang. And by all means, stay away from the beer garden in Astoria, which is across the street from Elia's Corner. Both places traffic in endangered species.
