Summer soccer, yes.

Empty seats.

Stuck getting taken for a ride at dealership. What channel or streaming service do I need to go to?  Thanks.

You're probably not in the uk, but if you are it looks like ITV have this tournament live. Though a lot of the games banished to ITV4, which is macroblock hell...

They're trialling video referee decisions at this tournament, that could be amusing.

FS1 in the States.  Lots of action ao far.

The fact that Oceania is represented here by New Zealand while Asia is represented by Australia tells you pretty much everything you ever need to know about FIFA.

Anything other than a Germany v Portugal final seems unlikely, but I haven't seen whether many of these teams have taken strong squads or not.

No PK for you Russia, not yours.

2017-06-17 11:30:49 AM
Who the hell asked for a summer of soccer?

2017-06-17 11:32:30 AM
Just offside

Shut up Dr. Joe!

Goooooooooollsky

2017-06-17 11:33:38 AM
Russia finally gets one to eck across the line.

Russia scores with a heap of bodies.

You joke, but I actually like the MLS season where it is. It means they can't preempt most of the games for basketball on local TV.

2017-06-17 11:48:55 AM
Such an MLS goal.... horrid game

2017-06-17 11:49:55 AM
Oh thank gods for this.  My weekends have not been the same since the EPL season wrapped up.

Germany is one of the few (only?) countries that typically looks at the Confed Cup as a "warm-up" tournament rather than a trophy worth winning in its own right. They have never actually won it. This year, similar to prior occasions, they are sending their junior squad composed of younger players to get them some playing experience at the world stage.

Long story short: I would be surprised to see Germany in the final.

Chimpy McSquirrel: Summer soccer, yes.

Apart from the Confed Cup, what other soccer worth watching is on this summer?

2017-06-17 11:56:09 AM
Half time and itv are asking why the video review wasn't used for the penalty decision. It's there, they're meant to be trialling it, why not?

2017-06-17 12:09:07 PM
Nice double save by the NZ keeper.

2017-06-17 12:11:47 PM
Some nice juggling to get and keep control of the ball by the Russian midfielder.

I was cooking some sausage and caught the replay.  I was wondering how the Russians do not score on that play...OR THAT ONE JUST NOW

Ref immediately telling a player to get up after that strong challenge

dangerous free kick here for Russia

IIRC no team that has won the Confed cup has then won the WC

Who are the favorites for each?  Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, *snicker* Belgium, *gaffah* Italy, or Brazil?

2017-06-17 12:29:00 PM
That was like in slow motion or something

2017-06-17 12:29:06 PM
God, how Arsenal.  They just walked that all the way in.  2-0 Russia

Putin puts the polonium on hold.  Russia will win.

I don't think any of the European nations have been storming away with things in qualification, so it's hard to call any of those as an outright favourite for next summer.

Only thing we do know: it ain't gonna be Holland.

The quality from the Oranje has diminished since the last World Cup.  I am disappointed.

2017-06-17 12:37:11 PM
The Kiwis actually forced a save.

2017-06-17 12:38:01 PM
Other nations will probably want to draw England. While our qualification has been a breeze so far, we've looked utterly dismal in the friendliest we've played against teams of actual quality.

The embarrassment to Iceland last summer should've been a kick up the arse, but I think we might actually do even worse in Russia...

Kiwis with a bit of spunk

2017-06-17 12:38:38 PM
Great attempt on the corner, but the Russian defender in the line was perfect in his position

hey hey hey, it's huuuge day of MLS. Sounders - NYC, Whitecaps - Dallas, Galaxy - Houston...

Most of the empty seats appear, now I look more closely, to be the sections immediately behind the bullet prooof glass, which don't give as good a view because of it, and were probably more pricey to boot. Also the entire area behind the section Putin is in is completely empty.

I get the impression the rest of the ground is pretty full now, it's just unfortunate that the side the tv cameras are facing is the one with the gaps.

Zhirkov ... heheheheheheh

Ouch.  That is a tough group for New Zeland: Russia, Portugal, and Mexico.

And ESPN has the Sounders match
