My former boss was a huge fan for years. Then she finally got to see him live and learned about the "panty thing" first hand (girls throw them and he takes a good wiff). Skeeved her out so bad she doesn't even listen to him anymore.

First 2 albums I ever bought was the Neil Diamond one with Song Sung Blue on it, and Black Sabbath's Master of Reality.  Seen Neil live once, and Black Sabbath every time they've come to San Diego and a couple times in LA.

Worked his show this year. Best concert I heard in the arena. He sounded phenomenal. His mix was good, he still nailed it on his songs, he actually had interesting patter. He didn't repeat any songs(I have read that this is an issue, he'll repeat Blue Jeans sometimes 3 times, apparently). The coolest little tidbit he had tells me that I just may have been at his first appearance in Salt Lake City... He played 2 weeks before I was born, and there is a very good chance that my mother would have gone to that very show. :-)

It's hard to sound good in that arena, out of the concerts there this year, only Stevie Nicks sounded close to as good, and you could never tell what she was really saying in between songs. Poor Elton John sounded like he was being played through a speaker at the bottom of a swimming pool. Diamond was spot-on...

Neil Diamond's "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" tour was the first stadium concert I ever attended.

Beastie Boy's "Hello Nasty" was the last.

Nothing in between.

/not really a fan of live music.

I was dragged to a show in the early 90s.  I was not looking forward to it at all.

I have seen a LOT of rock groups from the 60's 70's and 80's,  there are not many well known groups I did not see from that era and Diamond's show was right up there with the best.  What a nice surprise that was.

He comes to Atlanta and regularly sells out Phillips Arena, and unless you are a fan, you would never know it.  There is no advertising for it, no interviews, never reviews, just blurbs on ticket sites and his own page.  The North American tour before this one, in 2012, had floor level ticket packages that included a pre-show meet and greet, that started at $1000, and sold out probably a month before the show.

When my wife and I were dating I agreed to fly to Las Vegas to see Neil in concert.
She later told me that's when she knew I was a keeper.

That, and the sequin shirts they wore.  They actually like ND, and can sing about 10 of his more popular hits.  :)

been to two of his concerts - saw him back in '99 and I still think that might be the most fun I've ever had at a concert. saw him again two years ago - still good, he lost a step over the years but still pretty good.

/I'm a Neil Diamond fan and I don't care who knows
