Marketing dream.

Sign an incentive contract with the glove maker and if 'Mr. Blue Collar' hits the Majors...

Cha-ching.

How did he not get drafted? Most of the people who post on Fark were probably drafted.

Dalton Wheat has hit .350 for the Greensboro Grasshoppers since the calendar turned to June.

Oh FFS people...

Ironically using the surname of the worst Bond as a child's first name isn't doing him any favors.

He was born in Kansas in 93, Roadhouse came out in 89. I'd bet a 20 spot (fark the internet) that his parents were fans.

That's awesome - gotta go with what works.  Our men's baseball league was run by a guy who ordered the hardest JUGS balls you could get for a pitching machine and I had to wear mountain biking gloves over my batting gloves in the cage if I wanted to retain any sensation in my hands for the game.

You are probably correct.

Still...

I'm sure extra padding and comfort doesn't make it harder to hit baseballs.

Agreed. If you find something comfortable that holds up, use it.  Looks aside, they should get the job done and would be durable. Everything else is windowdressing and marketing.

If I was the baseball commissioner I would make players have to wear or maintain possession of all items brought to the plate when travelling around the bases. With the exception of the bat, of course. If a player loses a piece of his chainmail, plate armor, bullet proof vest or whatever, when travelling the bases he is to be called out.

IAmRight: I'm sure extra padding and comfort doesn't make it harder to hit baseballs.

Padding shouldn't be an issue until after the fact (maybe in batting practice hitting the ball repeatedly or something). And I don't know many people that would say they are more comfortable than batting gloves.

If anything I would expect the heavier gloves to decrease the feel for minor adjustments. But, whatever the guy feels better using will have more impact than that.
