So, it's Friday.

2017-06-16 04:33:31 PM
No it isn't.

2017-06-16 04:35:25 PM
Again?

2017-06-16 04:35:46 PM

St. Paul, Minnesota (CNN)Jeronimo Yanez, the Minnesota police officer who fatally shot Philando Castile during a traffic stop last year, was found not guilty of second-degree manslaughter Friday.

He also was acquitted of two counts of intentional discharge of firearm that endangers safety.

I don't even. :-(

So same as usual.

I thought we put down twitchy, nervous, anxious, and obviously deadly dogs.

2017-06-16 04:36:12 PM
The cop's race had nothing to do with the verdict.

2017-06-16 04:36:23 PM
Is it ever not ok for a cop to shoot somebody?
We should probably come up with some sort of guidelines

2017-06-16 04:36:30 PM
Nice trolling headline.  "Innocent..."  Pretty sure innocent people don't reach for guns and possibly rob stores.

2017-06-16 04:36:31 PM
Here comes the riots

I seriously have no idea how this guy got off... it is absolutely sickening how these guys walk with video evidence and all.  What is wrong with the jury?

2017-06-16 04:36:42 PM
I hoped the driver learned a valuable lesson.

2017-06-16 04:36:52 PM
Because you know, the victim grabbing for a gun at the time was completely irrelevant here.  Right subby?

Please at least let him be fired and never work as a cop again. He is unfit.

So telling someone to kill themselves is a crime, but killing them is not...  Some nice precedents today.

This was your one chance to counter that all cops get off on stuff like this. Now all you copologists are literally getting off yourselves right now despite how awful this makes your arguments look.

You have possibly robbed a store. It *is* possible.

I guess you're not innocent of robbing a store because it's possible.

2017-06-16 04:37:55 PM
Relax everyone, he "feared for his life" because a black guy followed protocol and told him he had a registered gun in the car, like he was supposed to. Nothing more life threatening and terrifying than people calmly following the rules.

Recent anonymous polling in this thread seems to indicate somewhere around 20% of people actually read the article.  The rest drew the conclusion based on the headline and poutraged away.  We're not going to win this one.

He can be heard on the video saying he wasn't.  Cop shot him anyway because he was a coward.

Best for the cop to just let the guy grab for his gun then and assume he's just going to show it off or something, right?

It might be the part where the driver reached for his gun even though the cop told him not to.

Seriously, fark this country.

yup.  last thing a cop wants you to do is start digging through your pockets when you tell him you have a gun.  leave your hands on the wheel and don't do anything but turn the car off till the cop gives you permission to do so.

Kattgrrl: Another reason to not go to Michigan, as if I needed one!

Ok.  This is St. Paul though.

An audio recording captured Castile telling Yanez he had a gun in the car, and the officer telling Castile not to reach for it. Seconds later, Yanez opened fire.

To me, the idea that he reached for his gun with the intention of using it is unlikely.

Why would he have told the officer he had a gun in the vehicle (something you're supposed to do) before trying to use it?  That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me.

It's possible that he misinterpreted the command to not reach for it, but I doubt it.
