2004-05-20 06:31:15 PM

Well duh.
2004-05-20 06:31:20 PM

2004-05-20 06:31:21 PM
Big surprise there.
2004-05-20 06:31:59 PM
Slackers...I didnt buy any gas yesterday, I stocked up the day before...I showed them!
2004-05-20 06:32:01 PM
My local TV station even reported it. Talk about checking the facts before you report, would have made a much better story..
2004-05-20 06:32:14 PM
Hurray for sheep!
2004-05-20 06:32:31 PM
SUPRISE!!! And I will be needing gas tonite. so lets keep payin up. Cuase it's luxurious to drive a car.
2004-05-20 06:32:41 PM

2004-05-20 06:33:07 PM
Just buy your gas and shut the fark up.
2004-05-20 06:33:39 PM
I wasn't thinking about, and I still have gas.
2004-05-20 06:33:54 PM
For those who wondered.
For those who thought Andy Kaufman was still alive.
2004-05-20 06:34:41 PM
I participated, but I don't feel any better. I just feel stupider.
2004-05-20 06:34:50 PM
Dumbest. Protest. Evar.
2004-05-20 06:36:01 PM
If you keep only a few gallons of gas in your car at a time, it's harder to siphon out.

/friendly tip
2004-05-20 06:36:38 PM
Oooohh nooo....they're going to buy TONS of gas on Tuesday, then none on Wednesday, then TONS again on Thursday, whatever will we dooo?!

This one was stupider than the whole "Boycott just Exxon" one....because once Exxon cut it's prices, everyone would have jumped back on board.
2004-05-20 06:37:28 PM
I gassed up my '03 Chevy 2500 today. $43.27 to fill the tank. But I drive a gas guzzler, so WTF? If you can't handle it, buy a car that sips gas. Duh.
BTW, I normally use my truck for truck reasons, hauling mulch, beer, nakkid women. On the days I can't get any of that, I ride my Ninja 500R, which gets 58 MPG with enough power to make me almost fall off my bike. 0-60 in less than 5 secs, try to get that in any other vehicle with as good gas mileage, especially for 3k. Look at the european nations and canada, how many people do you see on motorcycles? Smaht bastahds, eh?
If you want to whine about gas prices, why don't you whine about pharmacutical companies gouging the elderly?
2004-05-20 06:38:31 PM
Well, I for one didn't buy gas yesterday...

Of course, I didn't leave the house either.
2004-05-20 06:38:45 PM
Thank You, Captain Obvious!!!

2004-05-20 06:39:37 PM
Oh, and gas is a tad more expensive in Europe (okay, three times as much)so what are we whining about? Geez.
2004-05-20 06:39:50 PM
I threw $6 in the tank yesterday just to spite these fools who, incidentally, weren't spiting anybody. Big Oil knows you're still gonna buy that gas, it's just a matter of when. "Don't drive on Wednesdays" might have been a semi-effective boycott, since then the gas would never be bought (unless you drive more the rest of the week to make up for it); but "drive and buy the gas some other time" is just silly.
2004-05-20 06:40:37 PM
2.39 a gallon here. And I deliver pizza for a living. *sigh*

Wow....a 2500 and a quote Friends, even though I don't want to...."Couldn't you just stuff a sock down there?"
2004-05-20 06:42:01 PM
Heh, I went to the gas station yesterday...nobody there. It was nice. Put $26 into the tank of the Mustang and sped off.
Gas is still cheap, in my opinion. It costs me more to buy a carton of Arizona Iced Tea, and tea is just weeds and water.

"Is it obvious day at Camp Stupid?"
2004-05-20 06:42:51 PM
I didn't buy any gas yesterday.

But if I was on empty

I would have!
2004-05-20 06:44:10 PM
Well, you people are antidemocratic scum. I boycotted yesterday. In fact I boycott 6 days a week, if not more! BECAUSE I ONLY BUY GAS WHEN I farkING NEED IT!
2004-05-20 06:45:09 PM
Captain Obvious indeed....

/biked to work today - it's "Ride to work day" in the Bay Area.
2004-05-20 06:45:20 PM
Its time to nuke the whole middle east and stick a big pipe in the ground and suck out twenty-five cent a gallon gas.

That's stupid. Sometimes I pump gas into the garbage just so I can get a free hotdog.
2004-05-20 06:45:38 PM
Watch this all summer long: Bush's approval ratings go down, price of gas goes up. Couldn't be that the oil companies are paying for his ads? Nah! I didn't buy gas yesterday, almost ran out this morning, but I don't care 'cause boycotts DO work. I have been boycotting Fox News and they are on their knees now. Aren't they? Can't tell because I don't watch.
2004-05-20 06:46:04 PM
The sad part here is that as a society we need stuff like Snopes to debunk things like this. Anyone reading the boycott spam should have immediately hit the "that's-stupid-delete" key. And yet we have people forwarding it all over the place, reporting it on the news, etc.

Some of my own family members sent copies of this thing to me. *sigh*
2004-05-20 06:46:28 PM
25 cents to put air in my bike tires, and I'm good to go for a couple hundred miles.

2004-05-20 06:46:44 PM
Big freaking deal....

The gas stations are probably having the last laugh, as they got their phone calls from the overlords telling them to kick things (prices) up another notch or ten on Wednesday. So, for the 25 people that actually boycotted the gas thingy, they are paying higher prices TODAY, instead of the 10 cent bargain they could have had YESTERDAY.
2004-05-20 06:46:45 PM
/got nothing, don't have a car.
2004-05-20 06:46:51 PM
Dude, Where's My Protest?
2004-05-20 06:47:05 PM
I was going to boycot gas, but then I realized I don't really have a choice in the matter.

Hey soccer mom, how does that SUV taste now?

As we speak Angie Everhart is being interviewed on one of those French retro/variety/talk shows. Sweet jeeesus, she is unbelievably hot!
She could induce lycanthropy in a boyscout.

Buck Futter: you want a literacola with that?
2004-05-20 06:48:51 PM
I get 6 mpg in my 75 Fleetwood. It's really starting to hurt. Time for a moped...or a Geo Metro...same difference.

2004-05-20 06:50:55 PM
Make an impact, dont buy gas for a year, start walking, use city transportation, buy ANYTHING BUT YOUR ROAD TANK YOU STUPID SOCCER MOMS. Thats prolly where the idea came from.
Soccer Moms meating for righting wrongs and revitalizing America, Session 12:
Okay what is our biggest concern? Rising gas prices to fill our oversized overdriven underused Sport Utility Vehicles. So we should not buy Gas on Wednesday and convince all our friends to do the same. We'll show you big oil. We'll buy our gas when we want to! And pay the prices you set on those days instead!

Gosh big oil must be hurt.
Yearly gross proffits meat expectations.
2004-05-20 06:52:17 PM
25.5 average MPG. No matter how you slice it though, paying as much for full tank of gas as a nice dinner for two is quite painful.
2004-05-20 06:56:04 PM
I brought gas and I don't even drive!

/only one of those statements is right
2004-05-20 06:57:27 PM
[copy and paste]

People should avoid gas every day and ride a bike or take the bus (or skate, or walk...). We won't have to waste so much money on insurance, repairs, taxes, and the oh-so-expensive gas. Not to mention walking and biking keeps out bodies in shape (which we know we all need...too much TV and crap food)!
I don't know why more people don't realize how much more happy we could be without cars. Cars are one of humanity's most ridiculous bad habits. Can you imagine how much quieter it would be?
So ride a bike. Walk. Use public transportation. It's important.
This may all seem simplified and idealistic... but we gotta take small steps towards a healthier and sustainable existance.
I also recognize that there are some important reasons that folks choose cars as primary transportation. but the majority of the human population would benefit from letting go of cars as everyday transportation. However, if you are one of those people who must use a car as a primary means of getting around, instead of boycotting gas for a day try boycotting the largest gas companies who run the industry and set the prices. The daily grind of millions of people not buying their gas will hurt them; not a single day which they can laugh at. It's more of an effort to bike/bus/walk or buy from specific locations, but boycotting for just a day will be a false sense of accomplishment that will achieve little.
If you're waiting for something to happen, you're going to be waiting an awful long time until you start doing something yourself.

i bought a Harley to combat gas prices. Now I just have to figure out how many tanks of gas it will take to break even.

/ bad plan - sounded good at the time
