I'll keep my Bristols, thank you.

But that's okay.

That's sad. I never met the guy, but I always heard people talking about his products.

I worked for a fly fishing tackle store in Missoula for a while way back, and those things were like the Maserati of the fishing enthusiast.

I still enjoy taking mine out from time to time to catch some snook. It's the one I rarely use, but I enjoy using the most if that makes any sense.

ESPN had a neat write-up on their partnership - his wife became his hands for both his daily care and his fly rod work after he was paralyzed:

His bamboo rods in the wild just tripled in price, maybe quintupled.  Morgan was a wizard, like one of those people Japan considers Living National Treasures.

We lost Harry Middleton not too long ago and everyone knew Morgan was on the short list.  I hope his wife takes care.

It's all pointless rich boy shiat. Saddles, fly rods...who cares?

All that effort into something only rich assholes enjoy. People like this would be more admirable if they used their talents for something better than vanity.

Like Pokemon Go and Disc Golf?

/ I'm poor, so these are my two summer hobbies right now.
// would probably try fly fishing if I had the money and time....

Oh go piss up a rope, bro.

Someone who decides they want the best equipment for the hobby they enjoy, that's a problem?

I'm far from wealthy, but I enjoy using one of his fly-rods.

It's like the golfers who get sick of hitting the same generic iron and buy a set of Miura irons. There is a certain character about them.

He couldn't get his rig to play Fallout 4 in Survival mode.

Honestly, it's twee old white man silliness. Golf is too common for fly fisherman.

Whatever this guy was, it should not have been greenlit.

I have a few Winston rods. In this day and age of every corner being cut to save a dime, it is sad to see one of the old school purveyors of true quality and workmanship pass. From the first cast with a Winston you can feel the quality..
