"The Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill to slap new sanctions on Russia and prevent the White House from making any changes without Congressional review today despite the reservations expressed by the Trump administration."

HAHAHAHAHA, now whaddya gonna do, Agent Orange? How ya gonna appease Putin now, you corrupt little turd goblin?

2017-06-15 05:42:32 PM
Actually I may be premature in my gloating as I guess the turdmeister can always veto the bill.

And why would he do something like that, I wonder?

That would be pretty dumb since they could lose double-digit yes votes and still override.

Has he vetoed anything yet? Now that I think about it, has he signed any into law yet?

I read that as polonium. My heart skipped a beat.

Time for that, I guess.

Plutonium is coming out It wants the world to know. It's going to let it show.

I just assumed that's what subby's meant.

Did subby mean polonium?

2017-06-15 09:13:59 PM
Why the scary tag subby?

I found this somewhat hopeful - the way someone living near a leaking dam views the arrival of a truck loaded with sandbags.

Did you see something else?

2017-06-15 09:14:59 PM
If he did I'm all for it being used on Mitch.

By being a useless, confused toddler and lowering confidence in our government and our alliances.

who were the two that voted against?

I like that the honest takeaway from all of this is that the checks and balances tend to work even in a compromised state of being.

Look and learn, Vlad.

Sanders and some other guy.

Maybe because it also includes new sanctions on Iran? I'm just guessing, I really don't know.

Dumb question perhaps, but if Putin assassinates Trump* or anybody else from his administration, do we have to go to war?

Who the fucnknuckles knows. I'd think their direct interference in our national election would deserve missile strikes and instead we're giving handies.

It said in the article that Sanders didn't like the Iranian portion, felt they were counterproductive.

In any other country, Trump would be removed, and there'd be UN tanks patrolling the major cities to help ensure a fair new election.

This amused me for some reason...

Russia has threatened to retaliate if Trump signs the legislation, but said they will await HIS reaction first.
"We need to wait for the final decision by the Congress, to see the reaction of U.S. President Donald Trump, but if the law is passed we will certainly not leave this move unanswered," said Vladimir Dzhabarov, the first deputy chairman of the Russian parliament's international affairs committee, according to the Russian government-controlled news agency Sputnik.

Guess they are waiting to see if Donnie does the right thing.. :D

Not completely capitulate to the United States.

The bromance is over. If Trump vetos the sanctions bill I'm guessing Tillerson will resign and no one worthy of the position will step up to take over. On second thought HRC might have some time on her hands these days...

Why would Tillerson resign? I can see fallout but I don't see that waste of good tallow do anything substantial.

2017-06-15 10:38:07 PM
Keep an eye out for what the House does, though. I wouldn't put it past Congressional Republicans to make a big show of saber-rattling at Russia in the Senate only to let this quietly die in the House, and I do credit McConnell and Ryan of being smart enough to pull off a move like that.

Of course, another possibility is that this is Congress saying to Trump "Show us you can be tough on Russia." And if Trump fails this test and vetoes this bill, they will override it and will be that much less inclined to stand with him if Mueller brings out serious charges or gets fired.

It's interesting that the Democrats are all over Trump for "hoping" that an investigation gets dropped, but they don't seem to mind that Russia is "hoping" Trump does the right thing.

So if those two are equivalent, then you're saying you think that Trump was pressuring Comey et al to drop the investigation?  Because Russia is clearly threatening the US with that statement.
