Before making off with about $18,000 worth of the devices, the thieves grabbed a beer out of the fridge and cut themselves in the process, leaving fingerprints and blood evidence.

So there was plenty of evidence to find them with, anyway, GPS trackers or not.

Only if those things were already in the system.

You can't buy the kind of advertising and marketing like these thieves provided.

Even if they were, the cops would not have dedicated much time to looking for them.  Being handed thier exact wearabouts in real time takes away the "they could be anywhere by now"  excuse.

It does kind of kill getting federal funding for a manhunt.

I always though cheap GPS tracking would bring an end to petty theft, or at least make the jobs of theft sting operations really easy...

nope. I guess they'd rather spend their time fining people for going 5mph over the limit.

The evidence proves they're not Farkers.  Even those of us who don't drink are capable of grabbing a bottle out of the fridge without cutting ourselves.  Jail may be the place for them, kept away from sharp objects.

It's 2017, there are ways to make duplicates of those images.

In jail you tend to get stabbed with sharp objects, to stay away from them you need to goto the funny farm.

I am surprised no one asked the obvious question why didn't they build a faraday cage? Or who left it opened?
