Well, their debt and economic crisis is largely the result of the U.S. Congress farking them over by changing the banking laws, so maybe we owe them a bailout.

Which is weird. They'd fit right in with the GOP if they learned English and bleached their skin...

Oh yeah, the GOP will let an entire state of non-whites to join the US. That will totally happen, right after they impeach trumplefarkstick.

I better hold my breath now!

Sorry.

We can't do this.

There's no way we can fit an extra star in that little blue box.

Too many politicians are invested in Puerto Rico paying off their debt forever.  I can't see them giving up that cash cow to make them a state.

Kick Kansas out to carry on their noble screw the poors experiment.

PR couldn't be worse than Kansas, surely?

True, but the Democrats can use it as a wedge issue.  The Puerto Rican vote in Florida is already a major bloc, and it continues to grow.  Add that to Trump's recent pullback on improved relations with Cuba, which will appease the Cuban old timers who are dying off anyway but will upset the younger generation who wants to see relations and ease of travel improve, and the GOP's chances in FL could become far worse in coming elections.

Well, Kansas has god fearin republicans, and PR has those dirty satanic democrats, can't be sending that kind of villainy to the house and senate!

Why is Puerto Rico called debt racked when its debt to GDP ratio is much lower than the US?

2017-06-11 09:03:57 PM
Muy buenas tardes amores.

I live here
Polls were open from 8-3 on Vieques. Democracy right? I worked those hours. No voting for workers on Sunday:

I'm not at all surprised. This place never had self determination. The local elections are and always have been a joke.

Time for the US to show it's a responsible empire, am I right? Clean up your mess.

Lol.

I'm happy for you in the same way that I was happy for my sister when she got engaged to a guy on the same day that he was arrested for auto theft.

I'm sure Congress will screw them over this time too.

Because it can't print its own currency.

They're not going to pay attention to a vote with that shiatty of a turnout.

No way will the Republicans allow a state to be formed that's entirely populated by Mexicans.

Puerto Rico has no way to pay off it's debt.

They were purposely screwed out of bankruptcy protection so hedge funds could farm rent off their debt

Why is PR bankrupt and the US has top notch credit? The world may never know.

Perhaps not with today's GOP, but that is exactly what happened with New Mexico.

Problem is that replacing all the American flags will massively increase our trade debt with China.

2017-06-11 09:57:54 PM
It's too bad that the GOP won't do anything about this, because of debt, skin color and Spanish.

But Latinos continue to grow in number. It would be advantageous to consider this.

can we sovereign KY and put PR in it's place?  I'm down

So if we accept them, do they get representation in the house and senate at the time, next election, or next district redraw?

2017-06-11 09:59:03 PM
By allowing PR to be a state, how would their debt hurt the rest of the nation since they are already a territory of us?

cheeseaholic: So if we accept them, do they get representation in the house and senate at the time, next election, or next district redraw?

I think we would get an extra number in the house until 2020 when they would then parse it back to 435. But representation would be immediate, I would think.

Let Texas secede and bring Puerto Rico into the fold. That way we don't have to change the flag.
