This concept of a "deep state" is intriguing. It seems to have been stolen from a handful of books written in 1992, but not by conservatives or Republicans but by "iliberal" academics. I posted the titles of three books in another thread yesterday.

The deep state in academic usage (or among the earlier conspiracy theorists to adopt this lovely phrase) would be the military-industrial-media-congressional complex by another name, not unlike the conspiracy communities use of "shadow government" or older uses of terms such as bureuacracy.

Viewers of Yes, Minister! and Yes, Prime MInister! in the UK would probably recognize the fingerprints of Sir Humphrey all over the "deep state". Perhaps that is what Sherlock Holmes brother Mycroft does when he is not playfully tormenting his brother.

As used by Trumpers, of course, it merely means the wet-blankets and spoil-sports who are tying to keep the Goobermint of the United States on a constitutional and legal track despite the egregious and malicious attempts of Trumpers to dismantle the entire American Enterprise and kill all the agencies and departments that piss-off the super-rich and their mass affluent minions in media (Faux News, Liberty, talk radio) as well as crackers and fascists and Nazis, oh my!

In other words, the "deep state" is anybody, Democratic likely, Republican possibly, apolitical, constitutional, legalist, moral, sane or humane, who opposes the destruction of the United States of America on the behalf of a few globalist or anti-globalist billionaires, their think tanks, and their dupes.

Modern post-conservatist thought is like leprosy:  it chews up your body politic and spits out the occasional finger or toe on the way to devouring you body and soul.

Old wine in new bottles (wine skins). And if you know your Bible, you know what that leads to:  burst wine skins and a loss of some perfectly drinkable wine, by the standards of ancient Middle Eastern sheep and goat herds.

Damn Revenouers busting up our stills of political poison!

Ah, the "Deep State" or as people who don't ascribe to a lot of conspiracy theories call it "functional government." It's terrible when there are people who aren't appointed immediately, who aren't vetted and need their jobs renewed by a new Administration, who just keep working. Damn those civil servants for taking their pay and doing their jobs...

Time to crack the seal on CASE BLUE HADES.

Oh, sorry, wrong Deep State.

Deep State is just what any organization died when its leadership is a complete dipshiat: it overlooks him, stops following stupid orders, maintains many functions without supervision, and basically dampens the idiocy for as long as it can.

2017-06-11 01:42:22 AM
this 'deep state' stuff is starting to supplant chem trails as my favorite conspiracy theory of the day.

I think Comey broke the trumper's brains or something.  they're going even more off the rails than I'd expected.  we're talking full on total and complete delusion.  like full on auditory and visual hallucinations level of insanity.  they're literally making things up in their heads and trying to convince people that the crap they hallucinated is what actually happened.

The "deep state" refers to the movement believed to exist within government to undermine President Donald Trump's policy efforts by thwarting his goals, leaking information to the press and engaging in other subversive activities.

AKA: Politics.

The GOP was into shirtless ultra-manly Putin riding horseback across the steppes years before Trump really emerged on the scene.

They were crushing on him hard, posting silly memes comparing Vlad vs puny Barack in mom jeans on Facebook around the 2012 election.

Yea but Putin outlaws the gays, and doesn't take any shiat from Muslims and rides his horse shirtless, he's so dreamy. Why can't we have that here?

Oh right that damn that constitution.

As today's rightwinger talk of "deep state" to describe efforts to keep America adhered to the Constitution proves, the further along the Trump admin goes, the more America will look like 1930s Germany. Not every parallel will be there, but it will be quite similar enough.

You can only wonder what ideas that gave Putin. 'Oh look at this, comrades! They hate the black man so much they will gladly forget we have tried to destroy America (and still are) as long as it is bad for him! Time to set our top propaganda masters studying this 'stigginit' they use, see how to use it to create inroads into their political systems! Amazing they are so simple minded, anyone with half a brain and no sense of decency could be ruling America right now, if they had but the knowledge and the will. I wonder how much we can dare with these sheep....'

i'm sure this means something to the wacko right wing trumpers, but nobody with more than 2 brain cells to rub together believes this 'deep state' crap.  this is just bullshiat that trumpers tell themselves so they can feel better about Trump's failures.

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said at the conference senators should actively work to deny federal judges Trump appoints by using "blue-slip" procedural guidelines.

"We cannot become a rubber stamp for the president's nominees and we must fight to prevent erosion of quality and independence of the federal judiciary," Hirono said.

The monsters.

God, and the worst part is that, like Fake News before it, the Deep State is a real thing. It's just not remotely what these Prison Planet Cosplayers seem to think it is. I mean, the entire apparatus of all the 3-letter agencies is a deep, largely unaccountable machine. As is most of the Pentagon. And the lower half, at least, of the DOJ. And that's a real concern when you have a reform government. But the idea that there's some Jewish conspiracy (and somehow it's always a Jewish conspiracy to these loons) trying to subvert the Will of the People? Christ, that's way past Tom Clancy.

2017-06-11 02:44:08 AM
The "Deep State" is the state's immune system reacting to the presence of an unhealthy substance, the systems of checks and balances between the branches of government, and the justice system, working as intended (on at least some level) to reduce the damage caused by, restrain, and possibly remove an unqualified/uncontrollable elected executive.

This isn't any secret conspiracy, this is the fundamental built in safeguards of our system of government at work. This should be lauded, not derided as treasonous usurpation, but rather this is the open expression of the strength of the institutions of the United States government reacting to a malfunctioning executive branch.

I like how even the farking Blaze couldn't find any quotes that don't sound completely reasonable even cherry-picked and out of context.

This is like the time-cube level of propaganda, this shiat won't even sell to the people who are already sold.  No wonder the publication's been losing even its wingnut audience lately, this is like the definition of low-quality bait.

you should check out the local trumpers on pennlive.  they're in deep deep denial about the danger trump is in over this Comey testimony.  they are convinced its over and Comey's is going down.  let me repeat that  the trumpers believe COMEY is the one in trouble, not Trump.

that's how f*cked in the head my local trumpers are this week.

Depends who's doing the "directing". Stupid and angry can be directed in a lot of different ways, some of them very pogrom-y.

we're talking about people who can't boot up a win10 machine without extensive tech support and who can barely function on a daily basis without massive, coordinated government assistance (which they utterly despise).  And did I mention that NONE of these people have money?

anything they try and start will fail.  it might cause some property damage but as a larger social movement, trumperism is already starting to rot.

the trumpers keep it vague.  depending on whom you are talking to at the time, the deep state is led by Obama, Hillary, space aliens, the CIA, George Soros, UFOs, satanists, witches, commies, socialists, college professors (i.e. the so called 'secret collage') and elements of the military.
