Why the fark do people still have her on?  She's noting.  Contributes nothing.  Has nothing to offer.  Knows nothing.  And it's been that way with her since signed on with Trump.  Dig up any transcript you can find:

"I wouldn't know that."
"You'd have to ask X."
"The real question is Y."

It's a pointlessly futile exercise (if I may be slightly redundant).  I have mixed feelings about Mika and Joe, but at least they had the good sense to stop the madness and refuse to have her on any longer.

I also don't see how anything she does really helps Trump at the end of the day, but that's another matter.

Because 24-hour news has to stretch about 45 minutes worth of daily content across 24x that (commercials take the rest) and what gets people tweeting better than drama and sh*tshows?

And it works with the rubes, which was enough to get him here and keep them loyal.  I continue to be stunned that it works even a little bit.  Yet here we are.  Surface over substance.  I find myself recalling that old saying quite a bit these past few months:

"If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshiat."

2017-06-09 12:06:27 PM
Considering that Congress has already requested the tapes, if they exist, her stating that they don't exist would be saying that Trump was guilty of witness tampering and intimidation.

In a weird way it would almost be the smart move to keep her out of the loop but out there talking.  But it's a lucky accident at best, even though it's role that suits her.  Trump isn't smart enough to set up compartmentalization, plausible deniability, etc. etc.

Welcome to news in the viral video era.  Here's how it works:

1) Invite on guest who has a high chance of saying something hilariously stupid or outrageous and trolly.
2) Video clip goes viral.
3) The viral clip drives up video and page views.
4) Through the magic of advertising money, revenue is made.

No actual news or real information is reported, but they make money.  Making money is their only business.  They're not being paid to report the news.  The news is just something that they've found that gets them views and therefore money.

Come on; he just said Comey better hope there aren't any tapes. As yesterday's Comey hearing proved "hoping" something has no legal weight per Republican Senators.

Everyone has said from the beginning that Trump should deny there are tapes because bringing up the specter of them has shades of Watergate and better to just admit to a bluff that he has plausible deniability on.

Have none of them reviewed Watergate? Actually you have to wonder if Trump's lawyer have read US v. Nixon: they are now trying to claim that Comey was leaking privileged information despite that case being the one that said "yes the president does have executive privilege but discussions of an ongoing investigation of their associates with his Cabinet in charge of that investigation doesn't qualify."

Does any rational thinking person think that in this sieve of a White House we wouldn't have them out on iTunes by now?

2017-06-09 12:24:20 PM
White House has not said Trump's "tapes" tweet is a joke, they have said the president doesn't lie. That means there's "tapes" but they can't admit it or there will be public calls to release tapes that, almost certainly, do not exist.

The dinner where Comey was ostensibly recorded did not happen in the West Wing, it happened in the White House proper which couldn't possibly be wired for recording people without a bunch of staff knowing about such a system. Taping in the oval office? Sure. Taping in the white house dining room? Not likely.

If that's the case then it's just as if the tapes didn't exist...  except, if it's ever discovered that they did exist and were destroyed, it might be even worse than if they definitively did or didn't.

The thing is, there's no tapes.  Even Trump's not stupid enough to record himself intimidating and/or trying to create a quid pro quo relationship withe the head of the FBI.

Wasn't there an article about how he was trying to set up someone who was suing about something... recorded the conversation without letting the guy know, then bragged about it, on tape? I remember a line about how the attorneys at the table looked at one another, and knew there would be no case moving forward.

Because they are hoping that with enough exposure she lets slip a few clues as to what object serves as her phylactery and where it is located. God willing she'll slip up eventually, or Anderson will roll a 20 on an insight check and we can put an end to this nightmare.
