So it's fake news.  No sources and  no copies.  Anyone can pretend to read a document.   This is stupid.  And people fall for it every damn day.  If someone confirmed the broad outline than they didn't confirm the idiotic specifics did they? No they just wanted the words official and confirm in the same sentence for the retards to suck it up.  Way to go.

Trump is smart, compassionate, and has the best interests of out of work coal miners and other down trodden workers of this once great and proud nation. He wants to lower health care costs, increase taxes on business to fund our infastructure preparing us for the challenges facing us in the 21st century. He feels bad breaking the enomulents clause and having his spokeswoman endorse his daughters company on TV. He will relinguish his business interests and release tax returns so all Americans, even liberal democrats can get a better understanding of his money dealings. He has tremendous self control and can read long and indepth security briefing reports without losing interest, even if they don't have his name, maps, graphs and charts.

Buzzfeed did an interesting breakdown recently (yeah, I know, Buzzfeed, HAHA) on how the pro-Trump media responds to these things. It's the same basic 4-step process each time.
1. Silence, until the talking points go out.
2. FAKE NEWS
3. Deflect, change the news cycle. Trot out some other story about the left.
4. Close the loop. Merge the 2 stories, claim the "MSM" is creating fake news critical of Trump to cover up the bad news on the left.

MFM would just sound gauche.

Heh.

Several years and 3,000 miles ago I was hanging out at a Denny's (I know, right?  That just makes the rest better,) and overhear from the booth behind me the rapidly hissed/whispered conversation approximately as follows:

"Wait a minute, your add said SMFM, if you're single why are you wearing a wedding ring?"
"No, no, it was Straight Male For Male.  I *AM* married."
"Then what the hell was the blowjob about?"
"That...was just a blowjob.  I'm *MARRIED*.  I'm not gay."

I'm not sure if one of them stormed out, or what, because it ended there as far as I could tell, but I've had a healthy respect/skepticism of abbreviations ever since.

Dansker: Heywood Jublowme: Elfich: Doubleodoug: That's the defense du jour. No one is so stupid as to think firing the head of the FBI would make the investigation go away. Therefore Trump couldn't have fired him to derail the investigation.

Trump asked Comey to make the Flynn investigation to go away. Then fired Comey and said the pressure was off. Yes, he is dumb enough to think it would have ended there.

Remember all of Trump's previous companies are LLCs with 3-5 employees and everyone else is a contractor. He made his money by having enough resources to threaten the contractors he worked with. So while he "negotiated" with them he had a gun under the table to ensure things went his way.

Trump has wandered out onto a field where his money and previous experience don't mean a hill of beans. In his personal empire if he said "This ends now", what ever it was ended. In the government the two other branches of government can throw a monkey wrench into what ever you want to do (see the last 4 months). Even parts of the administration are expected to operate without direct presidential oversight to prevent conflicts of interest (ie Justice, the AG, the FBI). The best the president can do is slow or stall these investigations.

This is because The President is President and not a King. Trump is used to being a King of his little land, where he could do what he wanted in it and was beholden to no one. The White House document that contained Mr. Trump's comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting. One official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion.

Way to go.

The Presidency is the exact opposite - The president is beholden to everyone and is severely restricted on what he can do without cooperation of the other two branches of government.

Well said.  Trump is amazing because he artfully rides both sides of Hanlon's razor, you can always attribute his actions to malice and stupidity.  His money(by proxy power) dug hive out of his holes in the past that is all out the window now and he's flopping like a dying fish on the beach.

The idea, the official suggested, was to create a sense of obligation with Russian officials and to coax concessions out of Mr. Lavrov - on Syria, Ukraine and other issues - by saying that Russian meddling in last year's election had created enormous political problems for Mr. Trump

So, essentially ...
'The way you Russians meddled in our election to get me into the White House has caused so many problems now that I had to fire the director of the FBI who was investigating me. Now you owe me.'
Right.

This is the thing that really gets me about this whole thing.  People aren't like superheroes, where someone may literally be the only person capable of doing something.  Did he really think that it would just stop an official investigation if the guy leading it was gone?  Did he think that Comey was pursuing this matter entirely solo?  Did he think?

I love seeing this wankers twist and turn and lie and distort in order to attempt to polish the turd in the Oval Office only to have Emperor Commodus himself completely undermine their carefully concocted image of him every time he shiats out another tweet.

The problem is everyone who has half a brain can see through it, but the people who believe in Trump eat it up.  This will just further their resolve.

It's kinda scary how deep their resolve is.  I wonder what some of these RWNJ will do if he actually gets impeached.  Most of these folks are the militia types.  I wonder if they'll prove that Right Wing militias are truly a bigger threat then Islamist terrorists in the US.

Heywood Jublowme: Elfich: Doubleodoug: That's the defense du jour.

The Presidency is the exact opposite - The president is beholden to everyone and is severely restricted on what he can do without cooperation of the other two branches of government.

Wow genius! He fired a nut job, then after a special investigator was appointed breathed a sigh of relief! All went away! You libs must already be spinning and preparing for Mueller saying yea I got nothing quit the Russian derp already.

smunns: The White House document that contained Mr. Trump's comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting. One official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion.

Way to go.

SPICER. CONFIRMED. IT.
Christ you kids suck shiat at this.

He's gonna have trouble picking up the chairs on the plane though. Hopefully if he finds something heavy to throw it will hit the pilots and knock them out.

Nah, there is only one person on that plane that never deserved to be on that plane. Just chuck that farker out - get everyone to agree that he jumped.

dkulprit: Gordon Bennett: A third government official briefed on the meeting defended the president, saying Mr. Trump was using a negotiating tactic when he told Mr. Lavrov about the "pressure" he was under. The idea, the official suggested, was to create a sense of obligation with Russian officials and to coax concessions out of Mr. Lavrov - on Syria, Ukraine and other issues - by saying that Russian meddling in last year's election had created enormous political problems for Mr. Trump.

A "friend" of mine on FB posted a link to some conservative page and they are going to kill all of us.

it was a mess. I need to quit reading the internet, but I CAN'T!!

I sound fat: johnny queso: I sound fat: No one was recording.  An unnamed official "read" a "document" to a Times reporter.

The times did not see the document, and one would have to question why such a document would even exist.

Much like they didn't ask to see the Comey Memo, you know the one that directly contradicts what Comey has said about the situation?

All it takes now to make an accusation in this mess is a call to a NYT reporter with an unverifiable story about something supposedly exists.

This is the NEW YORK TIMES.  they cant even ask to SEE a document or ask any questions about it?

you sound more than fat.

reference the part where snek acknowledges this as true.

Did he, or did you read a headline that said he didn't deny it?

munko: another scandal created when someone called someone and read a memo?  oh please, this is getting so unhinged.  so what anyway.  he is right.  he had pressure relieved from a idiot nutjob who would not do his job and wanted to grandstand. Comey kept going on both sides of the fence.  it was not his job to hold press briefings.  I'm going to write a memo and call the NY Times.  It's like, hey, I heard that this guy called this other guy and one of them said he had a memo but no one could see it but only hear it as I read it.

Silly farker...  No one is actually calling them or writing them.  They are making this crap up out of wholecloth.

you're not even close.

I very much see this trip ending with Trump running away to Russia.  I'm a little surprised they let him leave.

A few days ago I started thinking this could be Watergate and the OJ Simpson Bronco Chase combined.  With this news I think the possibility of that is greater and greater.

Let him leave?  Getting high so early in the day...

Trump will still be president this time next year.

If we have Republicans supporting impeachment by then it will only happen because their poll numbers with their base have crashed.  And their base is Trump, all the way thru.

If you happen to work in the White House and have people that can corroborate you story, they might just even print it.

What is the derp angle on this? He had to tell Russian agents that helped him steal the election that he is glad Comey is gone? If they helped steal the election as you all fantasize wouldn't they know this? Man those Russians are brilliant and retarded all in one neat little package!  Comments seem like relief that a nut job with a penchant for political manipulation wouldn't be anywhere near a position to make up some more shiat.

Come on out my friends tagged in piss yellow, let's hear your explanation for this.
Oh wait, they won't show up until mid Hannity.

They're out in force in the Washington Post thread in the politics tab.

They seem concerned.

Tbf, there is a lot for them to be concerned about.

I just can't stop thinking about how, in the alternate timeline where Trump never ran, or at least lost out in his prez run, how much happier he would've been. Just going on about his charmed life as usual. But because he just couldn't help himself to run, now he's in the biggest shiatstorm of his life.
