In all seriousness, hopefully he doesn't hold this against his son and uses this opportunity to get clean.  If he gets a decent judge maybe they will offer deferment if he goes to rehab and gets counseling.

...or his dad dies in prison and the kid blames himself forever.

FTFA 200 grams of heroin and fentanyl

That's not simply a user.

The Lawrence Police Department said an 11-year-old boy living in the city called 911 Wednesday to report finding drugs in his father's luggage. Additionally, he reported witnessing his father selling drugs.

Good scam by the kid - get some stuff at school, plant it in the luggage, lie to the cops...profit?

NSCSB:
The wife manages a liquor store, part of a chain. Yesterday, she brought home the tale of a 12 year old waiting outside of another location until that manager showed up to open. He literally begged him to stop selling alcohol to his Mom. Heartbreaking.

Or he did negotiate a cut and dear old  dad tried to stiff him.

What?  No new bike?  Well that really is a shame.... Just bid ness dad.

I know he sells, that's why I mentioned dying in prison.

I just hope they take the best interest of the whole family and maybe find a way to help this guy.

That is heartbreaking.   Hopefully your wife can come home with a more hopeful follow-up - can that other mgr call someone to help the situation?

"Hi, 911. Hey listen, I'm seriously farking tired of my dad bringing his dipshiat junkie friends around. It's hard to watch cartoons when you've got a guy nodding out in front of the TV set. Could you like, send somebody over here and get me out of this clearly unsafe situation? Thanks?"

Next time that kid wants a new game. He will get a new game.

It didn't say if he was a user.  Generally dealer-users of heroin don't last very long.  It's like putting the cookie monster in charge of distribution of chips ahoy.

So, devil's advocate here.  There's absolutely no way for that father to prove his innocence.

What if the kid hated him, had an older, dealer-sibling, and planted it?

Absolutely no defense.  Kid calls the cops, cops come in, and the drugs are the dad's according to the law.

There's not a single one of us that is more than a malicious phone call away from a trafficking charge.

Those are the kids drugs, how else would he know they are there, AND know the combination required to open it?

His dad grounded him and this is him getting revenge.

2017-05-19 03:59:41 PM
Exactly.

But imagine if the kid had planted a murder weapon instead.

Even then, the dad would have a chance to defend himself.  "I wasn't around at the time of the murder."  Or something.  Whatever.  There's "a" defense.

As it is, he possesses those drugs and IS guilty, with no possibly defense, but no proof of actual possession.
