VooDoo fest is fun in New Orleans.  I am a bit too old to know most of the acts, but Die Antwoord is going to be there, so that alone should be interesting.

Jazz Fest sucks here, this is our best big festival.  I assume you mean a typical (but good) music fest.

We also have festivals for many other things as well.  Some very... different.

Frankly, you're planning really, really late for summer festivals. Good luck getting a hotel room, or even tickets for some of them.

Anything held in Chicago is good,  the Blues Fest is in a few weeks. King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas is in October. There are festivals in Memphis throughout the year.

Check out Montreal, they're a city of festivals.  They have like one a week in the summer.

This.  Festival season starts up here with the Montreal F1 Grand Prix in June.

Plus it's Montreal's 375th birthday AND Canada's 150th.  And good exchange rates if you're switching your US dollars to Canadian.

Jazz Fest or the St Jean Baptiste weekend. But, any weekend is good.

Wow, subster! I love this question. Bookmarked thread for sure.

Overall, here in New Jersey, I have noticed tons of festivals cropping up the past five years or so. Fun for all!

Ottawa's Bluesfest is a great time.
Plus your dollar goes further and less chance of being shot.

I'm going to Life Is Beautiful for the 4th time. Pretty awesome, music, food and art fest all in one that takes place over several closed off city blocks.

I think it's already sold out though

Why, sure!

The Ford Fireworks, co sponsored by both the City of Windsor, ON and Detroit, MI.  Biggest annual fireworks in North America.  Enjoy the excitement of avoiding the occasional gang rumble or random shooting on the Detroit side, to prove how really tough you are.

visitdetroit.com for info, look it up yourself

Not feeling the danger? Check out the Dream Cruise instead.  Should be on same website.

darkman2000: Summerfest in Milwaukee

It sounds odd but Milwaukee throws the best music festival in the country. Over a week of concerts on several stages, all accessible for the price of a single ticket (Headliner acts are extra). It's not too crowded, lots of concessions (aka beer stands), plenty of toilets, no mud. They even have a good shuttle system. The music festivals in my neck of the woods (Pacific NW) fail on all counts- exceptPickathonwhichisawesomebutIprotectitlikeit'sasecretfishingspot.

The Des Moines Arts Festival is one of the top arts fests in the US - Yes - Des Moines, IA.

The Iowa State Fair is on the USA Today's list of 50 things to see before you die.

Life Is Beautiful actuall RFID chips your wrist band, you can walk in and out all day, hit up your hotel room for cheap drinking and food and clean toilets right across the street, no mud or anything just closed off city blocks. It's the shiat
