The issue isn't guns killing, it's that guns make it incredibly easy to kill. That's what the ammosexual crowd can't get.

Perhaps he had just received a negative diagnosis, and didn't want to suffer.

Still, it's an odd way to exercise your 2nd Amendment right.

It's much too soon to talk about how gunz had anything to do with this.

this has less to do with guns and gun control and more to do with mental health but go ahead and try to treat the symptoms rather than the disease.  Also a big reason why I myself don't own a firearm.

They get it. They just don't care.

You have to remember that the nutballs are a very small minority of even gun owners, it's just that for some insane reason they wield enormous political influence through the NRA.

It's not a matter of not getting it, it's a matter of the small number of people who control the debate caring more about any tiny little inconvenience to them getting another boom-boom toy than anything else. These are people who literally decided that a room full of dead grade schoolers was less important than the possibility that they might have to fill out an extra piece of paper at a gun show.

They absolutely get it, and we need to remember that they're just complete, farking dickwipes who don't care.

We also need to just tell them to STFU and focus on the 85% of gun owners who aren't totally insane, because peeling their attention off the lunatic fringe is the the key to making progress on smart gun laws.

Time to pry the gun out.

I shouldn't kid.

Seriously though, it's sad whenever this happens. It's probably a sign of the times that I'm relieved that he only killed himself. Way too much of this "and I'm taking all of you with me" stuff happening lately.

So, you're OK with killing as long as it's more difficult. Check!

Unless you are facing a severely debilitating and/or fatal disease, I tend to think that suicide is always a mental health issue.

While you are technically correct, suicide by firearm has a 95% success rate and there are more suicides by firearm than homicides (More than people killed by car accidents now as well). The majority of both being via handguns. These statistics together suggest that maybe, just maybe, something from a gun control standpoint could help reduce these numbers.

Though I completely agree it's a mental health issue and that needs addressed but fark if our government will do that and fark if our people will treat mental health issues seriously and thus force the government to do something.

Readily available lethal means do dramatically increase the risk of suicide, but for any person to feel trapped in such a desperate place that they see it as the only way out is nothing but profoundly sad.

Yes in a sense, but also no, it's the fault of ordinary people.

Both the left and the right tell lies and do the wrong thing.  But at the moment, we tend to react to the lies of the left with outrage and demands for punishment.  The lies of the right, however, are more likely to be excused because of balance, freedom, economics, etc.  So they just brazen it out and get away with it.

I think this is probably just the fashion of the time, rather than any fundamental left vs right thing.

If someone wants to kill themselves, what the fark is going to stop them. Be glad he didn't kill anybody else in the process. In fact, people earned money from his death. It's the circle of life 🙃
