I'm glad that life time ban/disbarment thing is forever....Moore was one of those scary judges who was proud of inflicting 'biblical' punishments whenever possible, and basically ignored the whole 'church/state' separation thing that's in the constitution.   dude's seriously warped and refuses to admit to it.

And good odds he will be governor and in control of the highway patrol and the national guard. So....

which assumes Moore doesn't get tapped by the trump administration to go be offensive on a federal level instead of just trashing his home state.  Moore seems the type that Pence might be willing to trust.

Ladies and gentlemen, may we present Donald Trump's new nominee for Chief Justice.

Pretty much my thought until his disbarment.  This is a guy who wants the title of Grand Arbitor

And 100% of Trump supporters will vote for him, because they all love scumbags.

That wouldn't've given Trump a moment's pause, and would've been seen as an outright positive by the more extreme GOPers in the House and, more importantly for this, the Senate.

The only reason ― the only reason ― that we got Gorsuch instead of Moore this time around is that Moore is 70 years old, and they want their guy on the court for more than a few years.

No, it'll be Justice Yiannopoulos who replaces RBG.

at this point nothing would surprise me.  Moore is just the sort of useful idiot the trump administration could use in any number of ways - from propaganda mouthbit up to and including a seat on SCOTUS.

Moore said he will announce his plans for the future after talking to his family

You mean God isn't going to be consulted?

God's already told him to run. He just wants to prepare his family for the resulting nightmare.

If that were to ever happen, the level of outrage from the legal community alone would crash the US court system for months.

SCOTUS appointees do not need law degrees or backgrounds. Until the 20th century they generally did not. Trump could name Bannon or Kushner as a judge. And this Congress might just confirm him if that happened.

So take me where you want to
Boy my heart you steal...

I almost want to see Trump try and put Roy Moore on SCOTUS.  watching the republicans debase themselves to make that happen would almost make the disaster and collapse of constitutional authority worth it just to see the GOP finally admit that they never had even the smallest bit of moral or ethical core values and are just in it for the power and money.

Moore, even more than Trump somehow is the perfect symptom of the terrifyingly widespread disdain among the public for intellect and education in any form.

Once again he is clearly in the wrong and once again turns to the people to override law and sensibility with their votes. Tragically there is every chance that they will. Again.

Being from Indiana, I always look forward to news from any other state that makes me think "well at least I don't live there."

There aren't enough of those stories because Indiana is racing to the bottom, IMO.

No, I think the thing here is spite and stubbornness, not hatred of education. Remember, Moore is educated enough to go through college and law school. You don't have to be Smart to look at the SCOTUS saying "Don't do this" and reply "FU I'mma do it!" "No you aren't" "Then I'll get the PEOPLE to agree to let me!"
