"It's not clear why it makes a compound that kills human flu, which does not infect frogs."

Well of couse it doesn't infect them, if they have this compound in them.  Duh.

I NEED to sit down and have tea with whoever first thought "Do frogs get the flu?" and was taken enough with the question to get funding for this experiment.

As Hilaire Belloc observed:

Be kind and tender to the Frog,
And do not call him names,
As 'Slimy skin,' or 'Polly-wog,'
   Or likewise 'Ugly James,'
Or 'Gape-a-grin,' or 'Toad-gone-wrong,'
   Or 'Billy Bandy-knees':
The Frog is justly sensitive
   To epithets like these.
No animal will more repay
   A treatment kind and fair;
At least so lonely people say
Who keep a frog (and, by the way,
They are extremely rare).

Reminds me of the movie 'Medicine Man'.   They recently discovered this species.  I really wonder how many potential discoveries a year we eliminate thru extinctions that we directly cause.

They DO know something we don't - what blue both tastes and smells like.

The Lickers in Resident Evil were bad enough, and Hunters were as well, but both combined into one? That's a real bullet sink right there.

According to another article I've seen on Fark it kills flu virus by killing the host.
