Bird law in Malta is not governed by reason.

They're slightly different, Japan plays the cultural tradition card and the science card, while Malta plays the cultural tradition card and the really tasty endangered species card.

Not as bad as using bird nets to catch hundreds or thousands of migrating birds at a time. That crap pisses me off.

The article said that there's at least a suggestion that the Maltese trappers are killing endangered species which does make it different from the Japanese who hunt stable populations of minke whales.

When I was on Gozo, the English treated the Maltese like crap. The cops were probably just tired of their shiat.

It is weird about the bird hunting though. Gozo is a very tiny and hilly island, where most of the towns are on top of the hills. Walk down the hill from a town and you see spent shotgun shells everywhere.
