52 percent admit it in a poll, bit I'm sure the total is much higher.

I never have, but I admit to some curiosity about it. Especially recently. Same thing with E.

In terms of my friends and family I only know five people who haven't at least tried it (that I have witnessed) and that number drops to two when I eliminate family members over 75.

Welp I am in the 48%.  I was never around it until probably my late 20's when I had a roommate that smoked it.  Pretty much every friday after work we'd sit on the roof of the porch and he would smoke and I would drink.

just never got the hankerin for it I guess.

I never have. Been around it, but the smell is just offensive to me. I probably would if it didn't reek so badly.

Hell, I can't smell a skunk now without thinking, "damn, that's good shiat!".

It's not for everyone, but responsible adults like myself should be allowed to indulge.

My back of the napkin estimate says I have smoked pot somewhere in the neighborhood of three thousand times. But I buy the weak shiat intentionally. I love smoking weed and I loathe being completely farked up so it works for me. For the record I am over 50, zero criminal record, have filed a tax return every year since I was 13 years old, and my mortgage rate is three and a quarter.

I'm one of those people who gets nervous on weed so I abstain. But I have every intention of trying it again after I retire, in hopes that my reaction to it will change when I have less to worry about--so I hope we stay the present course.

I was pretty square when young, still am for that matter, and I've tried pot and hash. I never made it an habit because I'm afraid of smoking, lung diseases are the principal cause of death on my mother's side. I also do not trust that illegal products contains what the dealer say they do.

I'm Canadian and recreational marijuana is going to be legal next year, I'm not planning to become a user because of the lungs thing. If selling edibles ever becomes legal then I might try that. In the mean time I have beer.

I think I am legitimately the only person in my immediate circle of friends and family who has not partook of the ganja.  Siblings, cousins, parents, in-laws, wife.  Quite literally every single one of them regardless of age and place on the political spectrum.  It is why the staunch resistance to legalized recreational marijuana surprises the hell out of me.

Not all strains smell the same. Some can be very pleasant. GIrl Scout Cookie will make your crib smell like freshly baked cookies for hours afterward. Safe to assume you like the smell of freshly baked cookies?

I think these polls vary greatly depending on location, probably following along the red/ blue state deal pretty closely. The states that are leagalizing it now are learning from the earlier states as to when to put it up for a vote. The poll numbers have to be right before they put it on a ballot. I doubt we'll see many states fail to legalize in the near future. You're welcome, other 49 states.

The only things stopping me from smoking a lot of canibis are the sad fact that I don't live in a State where it is legal and I'm no longer in contact with all the people who have ever sold it to me.

One of my friends used to get the "junk" from growers, leaves, seeds, etc - which is what people sold back in the 1970s - he would extract the oils and make edibles for vets. He also smoked the junk, since he could still work on his clients' computers. He was close to 70 when he died.

The smell gives me a raging headache.

You think you will have LESS to worry about after you retire??
No paycheck and old-age and death creeping ever closer. You just have to hope you die before the money runs out or you break a hip.

Well some of us are financially preparing for retirement, but that aside when I reach those days of impending death I plan on minimizing sober time.

I can believe that number.  I've never done it, and I'm friends with a lot of people who never did.  I also have a group of friends that smoke almost daily.

So at least in my experience, a near 50/50 splits seems normal.
