Ever wonder how they let crowds cross the street during Mardi Gras parades?  They don't.  You're stuck.

/Well, there are places and ways, but it's pretty damn hard.

I just wear a backpack, and people near me disperse pretty quickly.

"Yakety Sax"? That actually looks very orderly and well-managed. Must get damn tedious for the crossing guards, though.

I propose we dig a tunnel underneath the city to allow the marathon runners to run without interfering with surface traffic and causing congestion.

Yes, if there is one thing Boston is good at, it is building tunnels cheaply and efficiently.

NOPD is maligned for many valid reasons, but crowd control is not one of them. Other cities, including NYC, take lessons from us. We're the vanguard of the country when it comes to herding cats, and I admire the cops for doing what they do during Carnival. There IS no Mardis Gras without our police.

You've likely seen this but most Farkers haven't: apropos of nothing here is an NOPD motorcycle cop smacking the ass of a professional twerk troll during one of the Easter parades. Crowd loved it.

Looks like an ok system. Doesn't interrupt the runners much, however it'd be a good way to sneak in and out of the race like Rosie Ruiz.

You know, I bet someone could take advantage of all that chaos to cheat.

+1 to subby for not calling it 'The Benny Hill song'
