I have 130k miles on my 2012 X5 diesel, it is still rock-solid. This is why their profits are down, I don't have to buy a new one every 2 years.

Of course Chinese consumers have tons of cash, they've been stealing it through Canadian Real Estate Speculation and our lax tax enforcement.

Hey! I drive a BMW. I'm not bragging or anything I've just not worked up the courage to tell anyone in real life yet. Man ... feels good to get that off my chest.

Subby, please stick to the standard Fark units of measure.  Metric ass-ton, metric ass-load, rods to the hogshead or Rhode Islands.  None of this "boatloads" shiat.

Had to "funny" this. Was drunk and tear-assing around Fark making stupid comments to the wind.

BMW went from producing the best engines ever made to very the worst precisely in 2006 (07 models). Hope you all don't keep them after warranty.  I'm probably the only enthusiast on earth willing to rebuild an n63 in my garage (not going all that well but will get done, certainly no forum or YouTube help out there) but really only drive the old m54 anyway because it's more enjoyable. Here in a couple years when other 50i models start hitting 100k riding around in limp mode from elongated timing chains and blowing smoke through valve seals like an 80s Chrysler, you are going to see a severe and well deserved image hit. That or everyone will just think it is cool to spend $8k on basic maintenance on a $10k car every few years.

Nobody buys new BMW's, Audi or MB anymore, its all leases.   The first driver is kept safe as kittens under the warranty for 3-4 years and the poor bastards who get conned into used models are left holding the bag.    I'm not sure they will lose any image over this because it won't affect the new users which is all the factory really cares about.  And if the dealerships can milk stupid aspriationals out of some repair and maintenance money so much the better.
