So it's going to be one big commercial for Scientology then, huh? Great.

Oh for farks sake

As long as they bring back Gilbert to play the parrot.

Frank Caliendo.

Funny, can do a ton of impressions like Williams did and could have the presence to do it.

F*cking Hollywood sh*tlords.  How about, oh I don't know, maybe a female genie? Amy Schumer is the funniest thing going in Hollywood right now, how about giving her the role? Or Lena Dunham, she's both funny and brave enough to speak truth to power. Oh, that's right, it might threaten your masculinity...your tiny, tiny masculinity.

You could see him doing it, right?

Jumping around, switching impersonations and really hamming it up.

I think the problem with Smith is that he's taken on all these dour or soulful roles that people forget just how farking fun it is to watch him doing fun movies. He's like Nick Cage. The man can eat a scene and has the charisma. Otherwise hire the guy from Broadway. He was the only real reason to see that show before he left.

If you're going to fail to catch lightning in a bottle - you may as well pay out the nose for premium talent to do so.

Here's a crazy thought, Disney.  How about not make any more shiatty live-action adaptations of your animated movies?

A Female genie? No problem. Neither of those women should play that part though as it requires the actor to be funny.

Why wouldn't they?  Cinderella made 6x its budget.  Beauty and the Beast is on its way to 7x budget (and has broken the $1B line).  This is a massive cash cow for them.  Do the big ones that people love, and they'll clear a billion in clear profit over the next few years on just half a dozen movies.

Get Tracy Ullman to do it.
I don't know if her brain flips channels as quickly and as easily as Robin's did, but she's the kind of crazy you need for the role.

INNNNNNNN West Agrabah,
Born and raised.
In a lamp
Is where I spent most of my days.
Chilling out, maxing, and relaxing all cool.
Just waiting for this lamp to rubbed by a fool.

Then along came Jafar,
He was trying to plunder,
All the riches
From the Cave of Wonders.
But his plan came undone,
And he fell flat,
And the lamp was rescued
By a dirty street rat.

He rubbed the lamp,
And I gave him three wishes.
He wanted to act royal,
To get with a princess.

He got two wishes in,
Then got over his head.
And the lamp was stolen,
By Jafar's pet parrot.

A battle ensued.
And Jafar, the big meanie,
Thought it'd be a good idea
To turn into a genie.

Well when he did,
The lamp sucked him in.
The plan backfired.
Aladdin got Jasmine.

When he did,
He took his last wish,
And finally freed me,
From eternal bondage.

He flew up to his castle,
And looked at it in awe.
He was finally home,
Fresh Prince of Agrabah.

Ugh, no. High energy crazy is what you need...Steve Carrel? Tracy Morgan? Will Farrell?

Anyone trying to mimic a live action/CGI Robin Williams will be terrible. That means you have to put a different spin on the Genie. That means changing a fundamental piece of the movie. Which means you have changed the movie. Which means you remade something but didn't remake it. Which means the people who are paying to go see your movie will most likely not like it because it's not close enough to the original to remember.

This is not a very good idea Disney. Might want to save yourselves some money and effort now.

I say they change it up and make it 3 genies, then get the workaholics guys to play them.

Tracy Morgan?

Yeah, no. I don't want a genie that's gonna take me behind a middle school and get me pregnant.

Tom Hardy. Just like Heath Ledger's Joker everyone will scratch their heads at the casting, but he'll deliver a unique and groundbreaking performance that many will argue is the best Genie of them all.

I was with you until that ridiculous part.  Nick Cage is horrible.  He can take a well-made movie and drown it in a toilet.  The last good film I recall him being in was The Rock -- and I think that had far more to do with Sean Connery than Cage.

But yes, I agree that Will Smith is pretty awesome when not paired with Martin Lawrence or someone from his immediate family.
