"The right side," "the left side."

Is this standing at the foot of the bed, facing the pillows six feet away from you, or are the sides determined when you're actually lying IN the bed?

/stupid article is stupid

I read the whole stupid article hoping they'd explain that.  Spoilers: they didn't.

Presuming they mean "standing at the foot and looking at the headboard", I use the left side of my bed.  But when I'm lying down, it's to MY right.

Yeah, which side is the right side? Right side lying on your back or on your stomach?

Does it make a difference what your sleeping position or your waking position is? In any case, the difference seems to be small and may be within the margin of error. Details, details, details. Most popular "scientific" studies are very small, poorly thought out, and about as reliable as a Chinese post-it note knock-off.

There is no stick-to-itness in either.

Okay, I'll throw another variable in (because I'm assuming the study didn't involve variables): Does room orientation affect it? Because if I'm lying on my back, the window is on my right side and my door is on the left. I literally couldn't switch if I wanted to, because of the closet being on the opposite side of the room.

Hell, does which side you sleep on affect it? Does which side of the bed you're on affect it? There's so many questions that this study just flat out didn't seem to bother answering it's not even funny.

The wrong side of the bed is the one with the sleeping cat/legos/scorpions/1000 foot drop off a sheer cliff. Other than that who gives a fark.

/ridiculous article is ridiculous

What if I get out at the end of the bed? What then, smarty-pants? I expected more thoroughness from such a prestigious publication as the Daily Fail.

/does get out of bed at the end
//scoot to the end, sit on the end, put on pants, get out of bed

A spokesman for iron supplement Spatone, which commissioned the research, said: ...

This is what happens when you defund the sciences, our scientists are reduced to this sort of bull crap.

/I'm with the rest of you that they can't even be bothered to explain what they consider to be the 'right side', likely something this guy's iron boner pill will help you solve for a price too, some how.

Right side or left side depends on how you're looking at the bed. If you're lying on your stomach or standing at the foot of the bed facing it, right and left are opposite from when you're lying on your back or standing at the foot of the bed looking away from it.

For what it's worth, I consider right and left sides to be what they are when I'm lying on my back. And I always get up on the left side. Right side just has a wall and a window. Left side has the bathroom, doorway to the rest of the house, bureau, etc.

So either I'm the grump, or the article thinks my husband should climb over me and the sleeping cat to get out of bed in the morning. Can't see how that would make his life easier.

I learned it as got up on the wrong side of the bed, not got out of. Must be a regional thing.

Most of them can read English, though, so I think "most people" still stands.

The only thing dumber than this article is Subby's mistaken belief that it constitutes "some basis in fact."

/wtf were you thinking???
